  • "Meilleurs vœux 2025 !"   🎊 As we welcome 2025, the French Treasury in Nigeria extends its warmest wishes to all our partners, colleagues, and friends. May this new year bring prosperity, collaboration, and success to all!   🔍 2024 was a year of strengthened partnerships and impactful initiatives, particularly in fostering economic cooperation between #France and #Nigeria.   ✈️ The year was first marked by the official visit in March of the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, paving the way for the acquisition of eleven Airbus A220s by Ibom Air.   📯 Later in the year, in November, President Bola Tinubu honoured President Emmanuel Macron's invitation for a State visit (the highest level of protocol) to France. During the State visit, Nigeria and France signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the financing of public goods for Nigerians. A MoU relating to the mining sector was also signed between Nigeria and France, promoting sustainable mining activities in Nigeria through the implementation of projects and programmes that reduce its environmental impact.   💻 Two tech delegations visited France throughout 2024, attending respectively Viva Technology in Paris in June and EMERGING Valley in Marseille in December, two key technology and innovation events in France, opening the possibility of having a Nigerian pavilion in 2025.   🌾 Finally, for the first time, a Nigerian pavilion was set up at the 2024 Salon International de l'Agriculture in Paris, giving greater visibility to Nigerian private entrepreneurs, whose five main sponsors are members of the France-Nigeria Business Council (Access Bank Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, Flour Mills of Nigeria, Dangote, BUA Group).   ➡️ Looking ahead, we are committed to leveraging the momentum of 2024 to advance sustainable development, promoting mutual investment opportunities, and deepening the ties between our two nations in 2025!

NAFDAC and NCS in France, 5th December, what a remarkable day in the heart of Champagne! From the early morning transfer to Reims to the warm welcome by the Comité Champagne and its partners, we experienced not only the elegance and beauty of this iconic region but also the excellence that defines its world-renowned sparkling wines. The day was packed with highlights: a fascinating working session at the Comité Champagne (CIVC), where we learned about their vital role in protecting the Champagne appellation, a delightful lunch hosted at La Table Kobus, and visits to the emblematic Canard-Duchêne house. The professionalism and passion of everyone we met, coupled with the breathtaking beauty of the region and its exquisite products, left us inspired and deeply appreciative of the expertise and heritage that go into every bottle of Champagne. A huge thank you to all our hosts for their impeccable organization and warm hospitality—this day truly showcased the magic of Champagne, both as a product and as a region. Santé! 🥂

  • The French Embassy in Nigeria and Solid 100.9 FM Enugu have recently joined forces in a ground breaking initiative to promote French language learning among students in Enugu State!   🛫 This inspiring initiative, titled "Solid FM French Language Fest," is part of the FEF-À toi le micro Naija Project, funded by the French Embassy to enhance French proficiency as a practical communication tool, empowering young Nigerians with skills that drive job creation and open doors to trade opportunities with neighbouring Francophone countries.   ➡️ In today's increasingly interconnected world, mastering French offers significant economic advantages and untapped opportunities:   👩💼 Career Opportunities: French is spoken by over 200 million people across five continents, making it a powerful asset in the global job market. Bilingual individuals often have access to a wider range of employment opportunities and can command higher salaries. Speaking French and English is also an asset when it comes to finding a job with the many French multinationals in a variety of sectors (distribution, agribusiness, automotive, luxury goods, aeronautics, etc.).   🌍 West African Trade: Nigeria’s borders with Francophone countries like Benin, Niger, Chad, and Cameroon make French a critical language for regional trade and economic collaboration. Sharing a common language facilitates trade and economic partnerships. Studies have shown that countries sharing French as a language experience approximately 18% more trade between them and a 4.2% increase in per capita income.   🤝 Diplomacy: French is both a working language and one of the two official languages of the United Nations, UNESCO, NATO, the European Union, the International Olympic Committee – IOC and the International Committee of the Red Cross - ICRC. French is also the language of several international legal bodies. Fluency in French is therefore a key asset for anyone aspiring to work in global diplomacy or international organisations.   🎓 International Studies: Proficiency in French opens doors to higher education in renowned French-speaking institutions, often with more affordable tuition rates. France offers numerous scholarships to French-speaking international students, providing an exceptional pathway to academic and professional success.   🙌 By investing in French language education, youth is equipped with the skills necessary to thrive in a multilingual global economy, fostering economic growth and cross-cultural understanding! 🗞️ In the news: https://lnkd.in/eDQRKz-y

🌟 Day 1 Highlights from French Embassy Mission in Bayelsa State 🌟 Our delegation’s first day in Bayelsa State was nothing short of inspiring and welcoming! From the moment we arrived, the hospitality extended by the State’s leadership and its people left a lasting impression. A special thanks to His Excellency the Deputy Governor, #SenLawrenceEwhrudjakpo, and the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, #ProfBekeSese, for their warm welcome and insightful discussions. The energy, vision, and potential displayed by these entrepreneurs reaffirmed the State’s vast opportunities in agriculture and agribusiness development. From crop farming to innovative agritech solutions, the possibilities for collaboration and growth are immense. Bayelsa’s rich natural resources and committed local stakeholders signal incredible promise for partnerships that can drive economic transformation through agriculture. • During President Tinubu's State visit to Paris at the end of November, Nigeria and France signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the financing of public goods for Nigerians. This agreement covers key areas such as infrastructure, urban transport and rural roads, agriculture, agribusiness and food safety, water management, renewable energy, and youth training. ⬇️   🏥 Focusing on the #health sector, a €55m loan from the French Treasury is financing efforts to strengthen healthcare capacities in Oyo State, improving the quality of care and access to health services. Additionally, a technical support initiative under the technical expertise and experience-sharing fund will address critical health challenges, including governance, healthcare system management, health risk financing, and social protection.   🧑🌾 With regard to #agriculture, the French Treasury successfully financed a livestock modernization project in Kwara State with a €500,000 grant. This initiative fosters peaceful and productive relations between farmers and livestock breeders through modern, high-quality farming techniques. The project's phased and well-reasoned approach is enhancing agricultural value chains, particularly in the dairy sector, while boosting incomes and quality of life for Fulani communities established in the region for generations.   💡 When it comes to #energy, Kaduna State received a €500,000 grant from the French Treasury to provide and install approximately 100 solar-powered streetlights, significantly improving comfort and safety in the affected areas.   ♻️ Turning to #sustainable #development, Cross River State benefited from a €500,000 grant for a feasibility study on establishing a waste recovery plant near Calabar. Once recognized as Nigeria’s cleanest city in the 2000s, Calabar now faces significant waste management challenges alongside insufficient electricity supply from the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC). This study supports the government's plan to create an electricity-generating waste treatment plant to address these pressing issues.   🎓 Lastly, in the area of youth #training and creative industries, the French Treasury financed a €600,000 grant for a creative industries training program in Edo State. Implemented through the EdoJobs service, this initiative has enrolled 1,500 young learners in a demonstrator platform developed as part of the project. With a capacity to accommodate 3,000 simultaneous learners, the platform is available free of charge to EdoJobs for three years.   🤝 These projects underscore the strength of the Franco-Nigerian partnership and highlight the shared commitment of both nations to fostering durable and inclusive growth! NAFDAC and NCS in France: What an incredible day in Cognac on December 5th! The journey began with an inspiring and insightful session hosted by the BNIC (Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac). Their presentation shed light on the global challenges and opportunities in the Cognac industry and offered an engaging overview of the efforts to protect this iconic geographical indication. It was a privilege to learn from experts deeply committed to excellence and innovation in this sector. Following this, we had the unique opportunity to visit Maison Hennessy, where we explored their world-renowned bottling and logistics facilities. Witnessing their dedication to craftsmanship and quality firsthand was truly exceptional. The experience was made even more memorable by the traditional French lunch hosted by Maison Hennessy at the Château de Bagnolet—a perfect blend of gastronomy, elegance, and heritage. The day continued with a visit to Maison Meukow, a Cognac house that beautifully blends heritage and modernity. Their passion for creating premium Cognac was evident in every aspect of the experience, making it both educational and inspiring. The evening was beautifully capped off back in Paris with a delightful cocktail hosted by Maison Pernod Ricard at The Island, a stunning venue that brought together conviviality, creativity, and exquisite taste. These moments reinforced the rich legacy and future potential of the Cognac industry. A heartfelt thank you to all the hosts and organizers for such a memorable and enriching experience! #FranceInNigeria #FEVS #NAFDAC #NCS #Cognac #MaisonHennessy #MaisonMeukow #BNIC #ChâteaudeBagnolet #MaisonPernodRicard #LuxurySpirits
