Education costs money, but so does a lack of education. Consequently, the cost of limited public investment in education is far greater than the price of educating our children. Nyamwamba has caused immense damages to the communities of Kasese district and the nation at large, we also ask ourselves, Who is responsible for these disasters that are happening? Brief Facts about Nyamwamba Floods: 1. They happened in 2010, 2013, 2015 and 2020 2. Close to 224 House Holds were displaced in 2020 3. 8 people have so far died in Muhokya IDP camp since 2020 4. Sub Counties of Nyamwamba Division, Karusandaara and Maliba were greatly affected. Western Uganda Humanitarian Platform with support from Oxfam in Uganda and other partner organisations have since been extending support to these IDP camps in Muhokya, Bwitho, Kiduku and Izinga. Oxfam in partnership with Education Advocacy Network (EDN) & CSBAG Uganda has convened key stakeholders for a national high-level dialogue on education financing for refugees and host communities under the #DANIDA SP II project. Present are; Members of Parliament from the West Nile region, officials from the Ministry of Education and Sports, including The Commissioner of Education, and other education stakeholders of the region. In his presentation, Philip Talemwa, our Education Coordinator highlighted some of the key challenges affecting the education sector in the refugee hosting communities, specifically West Nile such as low staffing, unfavorable facilities, and low number of teachers among others and how this has affected the education outcomes. CEHURD participated in the Annual Partnership Meeting organized by Oxfam in Uganda .The meeting brought together partners to reflect on key actions from previous years, provide feedback to Oxfam on their engagements, share successes, challenges, and areas for improvement. Discussions focused on building meaningful partnerships and identifying opportunities to enhance our programs, as well as essential support systems like finance, media and communications, safeguarding, and others.

Agriculture is important in the life of refugees in settlements, it helps to improve on food security and income for refugees and the host communities; Refugees are given plots of land to grow crops on; which in turn can help refugees become self-sufficient and trade produce with the local community.
