TSMC's DEI team, Women@tsmc, and Employee Welfare Council recently hosted esteemed film director Ang Lee for a talk titled “DEI: Resonances in/out of the Camera,” exploring Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from an artistic viewpoint. Ang Lee's works, which span cultural, generational, and gender-related topics, embody diversity's spirit. Through his lens, he engaged TSMC employees in discussions about diverse film characters and shared insights on leading multinational, multicultural teams. He expressed hope for a future where diverse groups are naturally empathized with, rather than seen as issues to address. His stories resonated with the over 4,500 attendees, leaving a lasting impact. TSMCers appreciated Lee’s genuine care for Taiwan, noting his warmth and positive energy. Today, Executive VP and Co-COO, Dr. Y.J. Mii, delivered an insightful keynote at IEDM 2024 titled "Semiconductor Industry Outlook and New Technology Frontiers", where he provided an industry overview, identified current semiconductor trends, and highlighted the industry’s latest breakthroughs.   Dr. Mii proclaimed that the industry’s best days are yet to come, as AI transforms every aspect of human life and paves the way for future innovations, necessitating continued advancements in semiconductor technology innovation at every step.   As we enter the AI Age, Dr. Mii emphasized the need for industry collaboration. He believes that such collaboration will drive innovations in technology and platform integration to meet the demands for energy-efficient, data-intensive computing in the decades ahead.   Senior Director of Advanced Technology Business Development, Lipen Yuan, also presented a short course at IEDM titled "Sailing into the Future of the Semiconductor Industry." Mr. Yuan shared insights on how AI is revolutionizing the IC industry, impacting everything from high-performance computing to automotive applications and IoT.   In addition to Dr. Mii’s keynote, we have published 19 notable research papers, including a Late News paper titled "An Industry-Leading 2nm CMOS Logic Platform" by Dr. Geoffrey Yeap, Vice President, Research & Development/Platform Development and an ALT Highlight paper titled “First Demonstration of Monolithic CFET Inverter at 48nm Gate Pitch Toward Future Logic Technology Scaling” by Szuya Liao, Director of R&D Pathfinding.
