MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM BCCT UKRC That's a wrap for 2024! And what an incredibly encouraging and engaging year for the committee and our growing community it has been. We can look back with pride at another year of success for our Internship Programme, as we continue to develop the grassroots for the next generation of talent that will allow the renewables sector to prosper. Not only did we have a record number of applicants and subsequent placements with our esteemed sponsor companies, but we are proud to see a growing tally of interns converting to full-time employment, proving the programme beyond doubt to be the career launchpad it was always envisioned to be. Outside the classroom, we have seen real momentum within the committee in rigorous and constructive discussion of poignant topics affecting the sector in Taiwan and the wider region. The regular committee meetings are now defined by our increasingly coveted guest speaker slot, a centrepiece forum where we have welcomed industry leaders to help keep us up to speed on auctions, regulations, and the latest technology and innovation developments. We have six guest speaker slots up for grabs in 2025, so let us know if you want one! 2025 is shaping up well, and we will soon share details on key dates, key events and more on how to get involved with the Internship Programme. What an incredible day at the BCCT 2024 Christmas Charity Auction & Luncheon! We were delighted to welcome Taipei's international and local business community for an afternoon filled with festive cheer, fine dining, and heartfelt giving. Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, we raised vital funds to support three wonderful causes that make a meaningful impact in our community. A special thank you goes to our main sponsor, HSBC, and all our supporters for making this event possible. The day was full of unforgettable moments, from the festive carols performed by the Salvation Army Band to kick off the celebration to the warm welcome from the children of TFCF and the joyful atmosphere created by guests in their creative festive costumes. SOS Children's Villages Taiwan, an independent organisation dedicated to protecting children’s rights and providing family-based care since 1949, continues to improve young lives. The BCCTaipei 4-Year University Scholarship Programme, established in 2013 in partnership with the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, helps underprivileged students achieve their higher education dreams. Finally, the Salvation Army Puli Youth Services Centre, with a rich history in Taiwan since 1928, provides essential support through youth care, homeless services, after-school programmes, and emergency relief. The event brought together experts and leaders from Taiwan and the UK to explore innovative strategies for healthy ageing. It underscored shared challenges and opportunities as we address global ageing trends together. (保誠人壽) and UK in Taiwan 英國在台辦事處   #AgingInnovation #HealthyAging #TaiwanUKInnovationForum #FutureHealth #BCCT   迎接高齡浪潮：第二屆台英創新與樂齡論壇 共創健康長壽新藍圖   超高齡社會在即，年度《台英創新與樂齡論壇》聚焦健康老化創新對策 隨著全球60歲及以上人口比例以空前速度增長，根據國發會統計，2024年全球已有40個國家和地區邁入超高齡社會，包括日本、德國、法國等，預估台灣明年即將正式步入超高齡社會行列，65歲以上老年人口占比超過20%；英國的高齡化進程同樣迅速，截至2023年中，英國65歲及以上人口約佔總人口的19.5%；英國和台灣在面對高齡社會時，擁有相似挑戰與需求，不僅在醫療與長期照護資源上承受壓力，亦積極尋求跨部門合作，提升高齡族群的生活品質。   由台北市英僑商務協會主辦、英國在台辦事處、GSK葛蘭素史克藥廠、保誠人壽與國際創新長壽社企公司協辦的「台英創新與樂齡論壇」於本月登場，聚集台灣和英國的專家學者及業界人士，透過政策討論及專家意見交流，共同探討如何將人口結構轉變的挑戰轉化為長壽經濟的契機，透過健康介入和金融創新，推動公私部門協力應對高齡化挑戰，構建更完善的健康老化計畫。   英國在台辦事處貿易投資署署長戴博享（Joel Derbyshire）表示：「面臨高齡化社會，英國政府已採取積極措施，確保人民擁有幸福、有生產力且充實的晚年生活。但我們也意識到這不僅僅是政府的工作；例如，為了促進健康的高齡社會，我們需要企業投資各項醫療、疫苗和輔助技術，減少與老化有關的疾病。另外，我們也需要確保老年人擁有足夠的財務知識及技能。英國研究表明，具有財務技能的人更有可能提前規劃退休並累積更多財富，因此，在市場上提供安全、適當的金融產品，並透過政策介入提供金融教育也是關鍵。」   台北市英僑商務協會執行長趙科林（Colin Giles）亦分享：「我們非常榮幸能舉辦這場重要的論壇，集結台灣和英國的專家，還有像GSK和保誠人壽這樣的領先企業共同參與。這次論壇提供了一個平台，讓大家分享實務經驗，討論創新解決方案，以共同應對台灣邁向超高齡社會的重大挑戰。我們希望透過更多合作與交流，攜手打造一個更健康、更永續的未來。」   針對台灣成人疫苗接種的挑戰，GSK葛蘭素史克藥廠台灣總經理格婷娜（Tina Graves）表示，隨著人口老化，免疫系統功能下降將為整體社會帶來更大的疾病負擔，而更完整的成人疫苗接種政策將可以對公共衛生系統乃至於整體社會產生積極影響。達成此一目標的關鍵在於跨部門合作，包括醫生、患者、醫療創新者、政策制定者和政府，最終實現更健康、更永續的未來。   高齡化是全球議題，保誠人壽總經理王慰慈指出，面對即將到來的超高齡社會，台灣民眾要面對的除了健康議題，還有伴隨高齡產生的長期照護、醫療費用以及常常被大家忽略的亞健康狀態。因此，我們在2018年即開始進行年度的退休調查，深入洞察國人對於退休的想像、擔憂和想望。調查結果顯示，雖然逾8成有退休規劃者對於退休生活保有樂觀想像，然而經濟及健康因素的考量讓他們的期望退休金總額提升。要從容步入樂齡人生，除了要善用金融工具及早因應，建構醫療保障和準備退休金時更需要考量長期性以及穩定性，才能妥善布局安享長壽人生。   由英國政府資助成立的英國國家長壽創新研究中心（NICA）也參與本次論壇，中心說明面臨全球高齡化，積極預防是至關重要的；然而，許多長壽產業所提供的服務並不是所有民眾都負擔的起，因此在設計健康長壽的商業模式時，應該以更宏觀的角度來考慮成本效益的規劃。NICA副所長兼VOICE執行長康琳（Lynne Corner）表示，「非常高興TICA+智聲於9月在台灣成立並成為NICA在亞洲最重要的合作夥伴，也期待與TICA董事長施振榮先生一同促進全民的健康長壽。」VOICE是NICA的姐妹組織，旨在連結全球人們對長壽社會的見解。   《台英創新與樂齡論壇》跨界合作驅動政策落實，共創高齡社會健康新願景 本次論壇匯聚了來自台灣和英國的政府代表、學者專家及企業領袖，深入探討如何透過科技創新與健康預防，應對全球高齡化社會帶來的醫療、經濟和社會挑戰。論壇涵蓋健康介入、成人疫苗接種及保險創新等議題，展現跨部門合作在促進健康老化中的關鍵角色。會議同時希望藉由專家建議與經驗分享，進一步驅動政府政策的制定與實踐，促成公私部門協力合作，提升高齡化社會應對策略。   照片圖說 (由左至右): 國際創新長壽社企公司李安鈴執行長, 保誠人壽關永威財務長, 台北市英僑商務協會趙科林（Colin Giles）執行長, 國家衛生研究院感染症與疫苗研究所所長陳宜君教授, GSK葛蘭素史克台灣格婷娜（Tina Graves）總經理, 英國在台辦事處貿易與投資署戴博享（Joel Derbyshire）署長, 保誠人壽王慰慈總經理, 國發會林至美參事, 台灣感染症醫學會理事長張峰義教授, GSK葛蘭素史克台灣醫學部鮑鵬文（Tony Pao）處長, 保險安定基金陳昌正總經理
