On the day of Epiphany, we enjoyed the tasty galette des rois/ driekoningentaart (also known as King’s cake) this afternoon to start the new year of 2025. ✨ The rule goes with the youngest hides under the table, calling out the name of everyone around the table to receive a piece of the cake. 📓📒📕 Last week, Deputy Director Mr. Schampers was pleased to attend the #GraphicNovelFestival hosted by #LibrairieLePigeonnier (信鴿法國書店) and #dala publishing (大辣出版). Thank you to our AWEX colleagues for organizing the “Belgium × Taiwan Graphic Novels Exhibition of Ten Artists” during the festival. Among the 10 artists (5 from Belgium and 5 from Taiwan), the Belgian artist, #DimitriPiot also had a seminar regarding the mining history with the Taiwanese artist, #SeanChuang (小莊), following their previous collaboration “#9554km”, a comic dialogue between Belgium and Taiwan. Mr. Piot is currently doing a residency in Taiwan, and further exploring the mining history in PingXi for his next comic work. 🇧🇪🤹♀️ Laureline Dubois is a Belgian artist, specializing in juggling performance from the École Supérieure des Arts du Cirque (ESAC) in Brussels. This month, she participated in the “Playing with Nature 2024 Earth Art Festival” organized by the Da Cheng Art Experimental Primary School in Pingtung. Ms. Dubois has brought her innovative body performance and held a juggling workshop for the school. Belgian talent in Taiwan! #ThomasFoguenne (福多瑪), a Belgian #composer and #pianist living in Taiwan, has just won the 61st #GoldenHorseAward (金馬獎) for Best Original Film Score for the Singaporean movie “Stranger Eyes" (默視錄). This is the second time that Thomas was nominated for the Golden Horse Awards. In 2023, he was nominated for his work on the Taiwanese film “Trouble Girl” (小曉).
