We're reinventing solar energy for the future.

About us

SunCable is developing the world's largest solar energy infrastructure network, making it possible to power whole cities with renewable energy. Our flagship project is the AAPowerLink (Australia-Asia Power Link), which will harness and store solar energy from one of the most reliably sunny places on earth in the Northern Territory of Australia, for 24/7 transmission to Darwin and Singapore via a high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission system. The AAPowerLink project has the potential to create thousands of jobs, creating opportunities for local businesses and suppliers, as well as innovation and investment in Australia, Singapore and Indonesia. SunCable is an international company with employees in Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Jakarta, Singapore and Sydney.

We’ve talked a lot about SunCable's AAPowerLink project, which will send up to 6GW of green power from the Northern Territory to industries and urban centres in Darwin and Singapore. Now, you can fly through our project and see what that will actually look like. It shows the components of the project from Central Australia all the way through Indonesian waters to Singapore, creating jobs, growing economies, and delivering local benefits along the way. Capable of supplying up to 10 per cent of Singapore's electricity needs, the AAPowerLink is expected to reach Financial Close in 2028, with construction commencing soon after. #AAPowerLink #Australia #Singapore #renewables

  • This year, we proudly partnered with local organisations to support events and initiatives that brought NT communities together and celebrated their unique strengths.   From supporting arts and culture in the Barkly, to empowering Indigenous leadership in Darwin, and backing local events in Mataranka and Daly Waters, we’re committed to fostering opportunities that matter most to the people living across our project footprint.   A big thank you to our incredible partners for making a difference in their communities. Together, we’re helping build a more connected and resilient future. #NorthernTerritory #Community

This year, SunCable was the naming rights sponsor for Barkly AFL and Big Rivers AFL for the third year running. AFL Northern Territory has an incredible presence in these regions and beyond, enriching local communities by promoting health and wellbeing, social connection, and community spirit. Both leagues kicked major goals this year, with the BAFL welcoming four new teams, and BRFL adding a new team as well as a new junior program in Katherine. We’re proud to support these incredible leagues and celebrate their achievements both on and off the field. Photo Credit: AFLNT Media #AFL #Community #NorthernTerritory

  • Today SunCable was pleased to return to the NT Major Projects conference, with Jett Street delivering an update on the Australia-Asia Power Link project. The presentation considered the unique challenges, and celebrated the enormous opportunities, that come with project development in the Territory.   SunCable has made incredible development progress towards the Australia-Asia Power Link project in 2024, having received conditional approval from Singapore's energy authority, and environmental approvals from the NT and Commonwealth Governments. The conference has been a great opportunity to reflect on these wins, along with those of our peers as we approach the end of the calendar year. #suncable #renewables #northernterritory

This week, SunCable received a powerful endorsement from Luke Gosling OAM MP in the House of Representatives. We share his vision for green (and gold!) electricity to power a new wave of green industrial development in Darwin, and decarbonise the energy consumption of our northern neighbours in the Asia-Pacific.   Once constructed, SunCable will operate for over 70 years, offering clean, renewable electricity at scale for generations to come.   #SunCable #solar #renewables

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese told ABC's Insiders program that Australia’s north has the unparalleled potential to power the Asia-Pacific with some of the world's best solar, such as SunCable plans to send to Singapore. We have a mission to deliver renewable energy across borders to help the planet decarbonise. Obtaining Conditional Approval from Singapore's Energy Market Authority (EMA) to import electricity marks a significant step towards realising this ambition. • This week SunCable’s Andrew Treble, GAICD spoke at the Australia Indonesia Business Council (AIBC) Conference in Sydney on Powering the Energy Transition. The session centred discussion around the region’s challenges and opportunities in the clean energy transition. Strong government-to-government ties are key, along with people-to-people relations, and industry collaboration and capacity-building from grassroots initiatives to strategic partnerships. SunCable's AAPowerLink features an international transmission system, linking electricity from the heart of Australia's Northern Territory to Singapore by 4,300km of subsea cable. About 80% of this will run through Indonesian waters, following a path of minimal impact to the natural environment. We are delighted that the new NT Minister for Business, Trade and Asian Relations Robyn Cahill OAM MLA MBA was there to sign a five-year MOU between Australia and Indonesia with Indonesia Ambassador His Excellency Dr Siswo Pramono to nurture strong and diverse energy supply chains, strengthen trade and investment links, and support respective national objectives in critical minerals processing between Indonesia and the NT. AAPowerLink is pleased to play its part, and will stimulate the Indonesian and Australian economies by creating thousands of jobs, building capacity, developing research and development to position the Asia-Pacific as a world leader in renewable energy. SunCable is very committed to deep, long-term relations and partnerships with Indonesia. #indonesia #asean #renewables #solar #climatechange #cleanenergy

  • This week, SunCable attended the Barkly Futures Forum in Tennant Creek, hosted by Industry Northern Territory. We talked about unlocking social and economic opportunities in the Barkly, a region very close to our heart.   Our AAPowerLink project will farm sunshine and wind in the Barkly, which we'll send as green electricity to Darwin and Singapore.   Our project is estimated to create about 1,000 construction jobs in the Barkly alone, along with hundreds of ongoing operational jobs. It will inject billions into the Territory's economy and put the region at the heart of the Asia-Pacific's transition to renewable electricity. #Barkly #NorthernTerritory #solar

Thank you to everyone who joined us this week for the Barkly Futures Forum in Tennant Creek! Around 130 business, industry and government representatives explored opportunities to stimulate economic growth, improve social outcomes, and support Aboriginal leadership in the Barkly region. Attendees heard from key industry players and not-for profits about how to develop emerging and established sectors. These dynamic and collaborative panel sessions also identified gaps, barriers, and solutions for workforce development. The Barkly region is a resource-rich region full of growth opportunities in agribusiness, creative arts, social services, tourism, energy, mining, and resources. We are excited to see what’s on the horizon for Barkly’s Future! #BarklyFuturesForum

PAST EVENTS // Last week, Energy Club NT had the pleasure of hosting SunCable at our October Industry Networking Dinner as part of #OctoberBusinessMonth, featuring guest speaker Cameron Garnsworthy, Managing Director of SunCable. Cameron delivered an engaging presentation including exciting updates on the Australia-Asia PowerLink project. The event attracted a strong turnout from industry leaders, government representatives, and key stakeholders, all eager to hear about SunCable’s plans to allocate 4GW of renewable energy to power a new wave of green industrial developments at the Middle Arm Sustainability Precinct. This energy will drive initiatives in hydrogen, e-fuels, green minerals, data centers, and advanced processing and manufacturing. Adding to the momentum, SunCable recently received conditional approval from the Singaporean Government to export 2GW of renewable energy to Singapore’s grid, a milestone that resonated strongly with the audience. The discussions and engagement on the night highlighted the collective excitement for the scale and significance of this project and the shared enthusiasm for a cleaner, interconnected future. Special thanks to SunCable for their support in making this event possible! Your collaboration not only strengthens our industry network but also propels discussions on how the Northern Territory can play a leading role in global renewable energy.
