Go!Mama is proud to support the National Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign 2024! Join us at Bidadari Community Centre on October 12th, where we'll be with our pods to stand together for this important cause. Did you know that breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women worldwide? Early detection can make all the difference—let’s spread awareness and support the cause. A big thank you to our amazing partners for contributing to the goodie bags: Mothercare , resavour , Doucéa , Mammas Milk Bar We can't wait to see you there!
Awareness is the first step to Empowerment - Breast cancer affects 1 in 13 women When I had my first coffee with Dr. Juliana Chen, a senior consultant and breast surgeon from Tan Tock Seng Hospital (kindly introduced by Arvin Tang whose team is supporting the National Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign 2024 #NBCAM2024 through their good work at AKIN), I was impressed with her passion, commitment, and the amount of resources and effort that her team puts into helping women understand the importance of early detection and its impact on breast cancer prevention. Early detection significantly increases survival rates; when breast cancer is diagnosed at stages 0 or 1, treatment can lead to survival rates exceeding 90%! It almost felt like an instant calling for me to spread the word. By the way, here's some good news for my breastfeeding mamas out there: recent research indicates that breastfeeding beyond 12 months can reduce the risk of breast cancer by half! So if you're close, don't give up! Leading up to October, in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, TTSH and friends (KTPH, National Healthcare Group, Woodlands Health , SingHealth, ScreenforLife, Breast Cancer Foundation, National University Cancer Institute and others) are running a meaningful campaign to #EMPOWERHER, and here's how you can contribute: 1. Donate to support breast cancer initiatives https://lnkd.in/g5JbP9Gs 2. Attend the events https://lnkd.in/gcVC_tCs 3. Spread the word by resharing this message! Go!Mama will be participating in the carnival at Bidadari Community Centre on October 12th, and we hope to see you there. #ByHerSide #FightBreastCancer #NBCAM2024

Personal Branding 101 for Women in Tech: RISE and shine The women chapter of Tech Talent Assembly (TTAB) Tech Talent AssemBly (TTAB) and Action Community for Entrepreneurship (ACE) ACE.SG (Action Community for Entrepreneurship) successfully hosted the Personal Branding 101 for Women in Tech event on June 27th, 2024. A huge thank you to our MC Alice Abigail Tan and our speakers, Vivian Lee from Go!Mama Ratna Juita Yulia Saksen and Wilson Mok from SkillsFuture SG for sharing their invaluable insights. Key takeaways from our Go!Mama Team : * Zuh: "The event has taught me that LinkedIn branding is extremely crucial. While majority are aware of personal branding, in today's increasingly digital world, LinkedIn has emerged as the top platform for companies scouting talent. A well-crafted profile not only highlights your key strengths but also captivates visitors, making them eager to connect with you. It serves as a main hub for networking and beyond." * Marissa: "My key takeaway from the event is the importance of personal branding especially for women. Personal branding is crucial for women because it helps them showcase their skills and strengths confidently in a competitive job market. It allows them to stand out and be recognized for their expertise, opening doors to new career opportunities and advancements. Building a strong personal brand also boosts credibility and trust, which is key for gaining respect and influence in their field. It's a way to connect with like-minded professionals, find mentors, and build collaborations that can propel their careers forward. Plus, in a constantly changing work environment, a solid personal brand helps women stay adaptable and relevant. Overall, it's about empowering women to take charge of their professional journey and achieve their career goals with confidence." * Shalena: "The speakers were fantastic! I wish we had more time in the Q&A to delve deeper with them. Their contrasting styles highlighted the diverse approaches to self-branding, reinforcing that there's no one-size-fits-all method. I can learn from these various styles and find an approach that resonates with me!" #WomenInTech #PersonalBranding101 #WEW #TTAB #ACE #GoMama #SkillsFuture

Enhance Workplace Accessibility for Nursing Mothers with BCA's Accessibility Fund Did you know that nursing mothers typically need to express milk 2 to 3 times a day to maintain supply? Yet, many workplaces in Singapore still lack sufficient lactation facilities for mothers returning to work after childbirth. According to a survey by the Breastfeeding Mother’s Support Group Singapore, 8 in 10 working mothers expressed a crucial need for private lactation rooms at their workplaces. Having proper lactation facilities can significantly reduce absenteeism, boost productivity, and enhance retention rates among nursing mothers. By prioritising employee well-being and inclusivity, businesses can foster a supportive culture that attracts and retains top talent. Help is at hand to shape a more inclusive workplace - BCA’s Accessibility Fund supports upgrading buildings with essential Universal Design features, including lactation rooms and pods. ✅️The Go!Mama Lactation Pod Now Qualifies for the BCA Accessibility Fund BCA (Building and Construction Authority) was one for the first agencies that I knew I had to build a shared vision with when I started Go!Mama, and I cannot be prouder and more thrilled to share this significant development that was recently highlighted in a speech by Minister Indranee Rajah in the parliament. Yesterday, alongside our partner Frontier Community Club and adviser Patrick Tay Teck Guan, we had the opportunity to discuss the advantage of opting for a lactation pod and we also delved into the firsthand user experience of a breastfeeding mother who tried the pod in an interview with CNA Channel 8 news. We hope that more qualifying offices and building owners will leverage on the accessibility fund to support breastfeeding mothers by providing a safe and dedicated space to carry out this essential maternal duty. Not only is it the right thing to do, but creating an environment where employees or visitors feel supported and cared for is undeniably beneficial for business – it is also a smart thing to do. I recalled driving to a pitching day last year, pondering over how to articulate why I think Go!Mama business model is not directly impacted by our nation's low birth rate and I conceived the following quote that is now a wall poster on our office : "Providing a nursing room is akin to providing a wheelchair accessible toilet. It is not measured solely by usage but serves to provide assurance that the facility is available when someone needs it." This quote encapsulates our belief and the mindset shift that is imperative for our cause. It is the reason why Go!Mama should exist – to build a more supportive environment for motherhood and It is incredibly humbling and validating to see MP Louis Ng sharing this in Parliament, underscoring the importance of our mission. Thank you to everyone of has helped us in our journey and made this possible! This marks not only a milestone for go!mama, but also a stride towards a more inclusive and supportive environment for all. Please reach out to find out more about tapping into the BCA accessibility fund for acquiring your lactation pod! 💜 Go!Mama
