  • DP was appointed the architect for the #rejuvenation of the Golden Mile Complex (GMC) in May 2022. Now called Golden Mile Singapore, the iconic building’s next chapter, which includes a new 45-storey residential tower named, The Aurea, was unveiled at a press conference this morning.   The rejuvenation of Golden Mile Singapore involved #conservation and intensification, achieved through a sensitive approach that balances old and new. Our design team worked in close collaboration with Far East Organization, Perennial Holdings and conservation specialist consultancy Studio Lapis to express the building’s urban and #architecturalheritage and extend its #culturalrelevance for future generations. Inspired by the original vision and spirit of GMC, the design scheme rethinks the integration of the #liveworkplay model to enrich its offerings, improve #economicviability and enhance #socialvibrancy; all while ensuring that our conservation efforts translate to meaningful #carbonsavings and #environmentalresiliency. https://lnkd.in/gDy_A9F3

  • DP Architects is delighted to announce that its design for Raffles Place Park was selected as the winner in a design competition held by Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore (URA) and National Parks Board. Conceived alongside its landscape specialist arm, DP Green , the design team centred the design scheme on refreshing this strategic #publicnode into an #inclusive urban space with an emphasis on creating biodiversity and with it, a nod to its site heritage, the 1965 Raffles Place Garden. Once a hilly terrain, the design also looks to restore traces of its undulating hilly component to give new character to this re-imagined landscape. Drawing from the old to create new experiences for the public, this aims to contribute to the nation’s wider #CityinNature vision, one where we envision Raffles Place Park to be an inclusive, multi-purpose recreational space of both activity and respite for all.

Scroll 👉 👀 for a sneak peek of the new Raffles Place Park (RPP)! The design by DP Architects won for its thoughtful balance of civic and park spaces catering to a wide demographic of users in our design competition with the National Parks Board launched earlier in June. With this revamp, the RPP is set to strengthen its identity as a vibrant public space within the city centre even after office hours and bring greenery closer to the community.

DP Architects is glad to share that His Excellency, Ong Eng Chuan, Singapore’s Ambassador to Japan and Commissioner General of the Singapore Pavilion has announced that the exterior shell construction of the Singapore Pavilion for World Expo 2025, Osaka has been completed. Conceived in collaboration with Singapore Tourism Board and Kingsmen Creatives Ltd, ‘The Dream Sphere’, is covered with approximately 17,000 red discs, with its overlapping design of the discs taking inspiration from the well-known seigaiha wave motif. The design, realised through its #interdisciplinary approach involving its specialist companies DP Design, DP Engineers, DP Facade, DP Green, DP Lighting and DP Sustainable Design, is led by DP Architects CEO Ar. Seah Chee Huang. “The Singapore Pavilion’s use of discs is made up of 70% post-consumer recycled content and will contribute to a reduction of more than 70 tons of carbon dioxide, which is the amount absorbed annually by approximately 2,500 trees.” said Ar. Seah. Construction started on 10 January, and with the last disc installed, the exterior shell was completed just 10 and a half months after it began. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gwaC_gMQ

DP Architects CEO Ar. Chee Huang Seah was invited to share at the Union Internationale des Architectes (UIA) #UIA2024KL International Forum, where architects and representatives from around the world come together to discuss emerging global issues. Speaking on the topic Designing with People and Nature in Mind, where it explores creating spaces that accommodate cultural diversity while seeking to integrate the needs of different user groups and respect the natural environment. Ar. Seah sets the Singapore context of its transformation of a Garden City into a thriving City in Nature, through its systemic approach and key polices. In support of this vision, the #IntegratedCommunityHub typology serves as a test bed of various approaches to social, urban and environmental regeneration. Showing case studies such as Our Tampines Hub, One Punggol and Bukit Canberra, through their unique locale, strategies and integration of biophilic design into their architecture, it illustrates the potentialities of this typology and how it can support community health and resilience, #biodiversity enhancement, on en-route towards a #betterthansustainable, #regenerative future. Hosted at Kuala Lumpur this year with its theme of DiverseCity, this forum explores the role of cultural diversity in shaping resilient and inclusive urban futures. It invites a global collective dialogue of forum delegates to explore, discourse and innovate the ever-evolving role of an architect in today’s milieu.
