Architecture and Planning

Connecting people and nature through the creation of inspiring settings with a sense of place.

About us

DP Green (DPG) holds the firm belief that architecture and landscape are inextricably linked; green spaces are invaluable to the habitability and long-term sustainability of cities, often providing linkages and social collection points that strengthen urban fabrics. DPG is an interdisciplinary practice that comprises landscape architects, architects, designers, horticulturists and arborists, the landscape designs of DPG work towards producing a deep-seated sense of place by responding to a site’s natural genius loci. Our goal is to realise project sites that are beneficial to the environment and for the people who use them. Our group’s early involvement in projects facilitates the timely resolution of issues that will inform well-integrated outcomes. The implementation of green deck spaces in particular can influence programmes at all levels, with a strong impact on spatial functionality and building sustainability. Assimilating the latest arboreal technologies, knowledge and practices developed worldwide with artisanal sensibilities for crafting landscape in a collaborative, inter-disciplinary design methodology sits at the heart of DPG’s approach. It is also the key to their success in crafting landscapes that are fully harmonised with buildings and infrastructure, particularly in the formation of hardscapes, softscapes, and green roofs and walls. Today, DPG’s arboricultural services include but are not limited to Tree Hazard Assessment, Tree Conservation, Construction Impact Study, Proposal of Mitigation Measures for Construction Sites, Authority Consultation, Submission and Clearance, NParks’ Tree Protection Zones (TPZ) Requirement Verification, Site Monitoring during Construction, Tree Planting and Transplanting, Tree Felling and Pruning Supervision, and Plant Analysis and Diagnostic for existing landscape.

  • What would a future living not just alongside but amidst nature be like? In responses to the theme ‘Botanical Fun’ with an emphasis on #sustainability, our landscape executives from DP Green, Chong Yong Le and Qiyanah Azmi together with Azza Dina from NParks, explored this in their landscape design for the #SingaporeGardenersCup at the 2024 #SingaporeGardenFestival (SGF). ‘WoWdering Wonders’, one of the five featured #urbaninstallations from the five districts in Singapore, celebrates the interplay and the explores the blurring boundary between nature and urban environments. The design, which juxtaposed an urban meadow and a naturalistic forest, showcased humanity’s complex relationship with nature through the themes of #Wilding, Wandering and Wondering. Also, a metaphor for the impact of urbanisation on wildlife, ‘WoWdering Wonders’ sought to inspire visitors to contemplate the potential for harmony between humans and the natural world through mutual embrace and adaptation. Representing the North East district, the installation was designed and delivered in collaboration with participants from Tampines Arcadia Residents’ Network, Chartwell Neighbourhood Committee, Greendale Primary School, Temasek Polytechnic, UWCSEA (East), Al-Mawaddah Mosque, Muhammadiyah Welfare home and Sri Darma Muneeswaran Temple – DMT Nandavanam (DMT Garden). The Implementing Partner for the installation was @DevelcoLandscape. In its ninth edition, #SGF2024 was held at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre from 3rd to 11th August. #flowers #gardening #landscapedesign #SGF2024

  • The capacity of #biophilicdesign to create a #senseofplace, #connectcommunities and counter anthropogenic-related #climatechange in the built environment is something that we are deeply passionate about. How can biophilic design be integrated more meaningfully in our urban environment? With the big push for #naturebased solutions, how do we, as #landscapearchitects, balance practicality and ensure functionality so as to attain the buy-in from clients? This #WLAM2024, we revisit a panel discussion with our industry’s prominent landscape architects. Join Srilalitha Gopalakrishnan (Dr), president of @Singapore Institute of Landscape Architects; Yvonne Andrea Tan, director of DP Green; and, Jelle Therry , design director of Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl – as they deep dive into what it takes to ‘Build Biophilic Communities’. The panel discussion was one of two organized by DP Architects for its inaugural #DesignSeries in 2023. Read the full panel discussion here: https://lnkd.in/gsNgbg_w

  • #Purposefuldesign rarely occurs in silo environments and our work on Punggol Green exemplifies this. The opportunity to #cocreate with the community to transform a space of dis-amenity into one that is loved and delighted in, makes this one of our dearest projects to date. Celebrating #WLAM2024, this is a timely reminder of the #joy of our craft, the #powerofdesign, and the #value that #landscapearchitecture brings.

Day 17: Connecting Communities Behind the scenes to transform a 500m long underutilised infrastructure remnant space into a well-loved 500m long Park. • Years of landscape visioning, ideation and design • Extensive rounds of collaboration and engagement with the community, garnering input • Strong support and collaborations with stakeholders including six government agencies. Punggol Green exemplifies the power of community collaboration and engagement. DPG actively sought community input to shape the project addressing community desires and needs. Through multiple rounds of #Connecting Communities discussions, brainstorming, and even sketching activities, the community shared preferences, from desired facilities to color schemes that best represent their neighborhood. This ensures Punggol Green is a well-loved new public green, offering outdoor living rooms with a range of amenities from play, sports, fitness, and 'hotdesking' spots, embraced in nature. Punggol Green responds to community needs and promotes ecological connectivity and sustainability. Collaborative efforts can result in the creation of spaces that truly enrich the lives of those they serve.
