Amazing series of speakers - Starting the morning from some of the best Stephanie Glover, Dr Scarlett E Brown Rollo de Sausmarez, Sally Rochester, and following onto the panel speakers Perrin Carey, Kate Finlayson and Jessica Robinson, Glen Tonks, Peter Swabey, Paul Johnston ACG, Jacques Colley and Lezanne K.... ...the discussions ranged far and wide from discussing how Guernsey governance is presented to the outside world and how we can maintain those standards, sharing the technology to reduce time and effort for writing minutes and how you can master that art and do that efficiently while maintaining the quality and the purpose of it by Board Intelligence... ...to talking about the importance of purpose, humans, and alignment of the values to how we make decisions, the complex nature of interconnectedness between these elements and seeing organisations as system, Mergers and Acquisitions challenges, the do's and don'ts, the real responsibility that comes from sustainability by UN1TY Trusted Advisory, #MourantConsulting and CoSteer®... ...to learning some great insights about subsidiary governance from One Advisory and closing with some great conversation between the panels from IQ-EQ, Horsepool Group and One Advisory about the future of a governance professional and what does it look like in this fast paced technology world. It was refreshing to hear perspectives where governance, culture, values, purpose and technology were not just spoken in the same sentence but also practised by many leaders and there were leading discussions about how they are trying and looking new ways to integrate these elements into day-to-day practise and people were excited about it ❤️ Thank you Grant Wilson, Kate Lenfestey ACG and the whole team for inviting the CoSteer® team for sharing what we do and to learn from some of the best. #governance #culture #leadership #culture #guernsey #purpose #sustainability #2024

It was a pleasure to share the stage this morning at The Chartered Governance Institute - Bailiwick of Guernsey Branch Annual Conference! Thank you to my fellow panellists Jessica Robinson and Perrin Carey, to panel moderator Glen Tonks, as well as Joe Ogier, Kate Lenfestey ACG and Fiona Murray for pulling the event together. We had a great time sharing tips on our panel, 'An M&A Survival Guide'. Not quite Max Brooks but hopefully still entertaining! It all comes down to the people--cultural fit, personal goals, shareholders' exit strategies, well-placed advisors and careful integration planning. Can't wait to share more soon about developments at Oak Group in this space ☺️ It was great to hear such a positive update from Stephanie Glover about the influential work Guernsey Finance is doing to advocate on industry's behalf and sharing the message about our excellent corporate governance framework. Dr Scarlett E Brown scared the life out of me introducing the term 'AI Hallucinations' (AI inserting comments/action points into minutes that sound plausible but never actually happened) so..thanks for unlocking a new fear! J/k...but very informative view on the plausible uses of AI in this important area and Board Intelligence tools to make us better at our jobs. Facilitating, not replacing! Apparently AI is also possibly more human than we thought--in manuscripts from longer board meetings, the first half is *always* better and more accurate than the second! 😯 Finally, very thought-provoking updates from Sally Rochester, Rollo de Sausmarez, Peter Swabey, Paul Johnston ACG, Rebecca Booth MSc, FCG, FRSA, Jacques Colley, and Lezanne K.--two of my favourite takeaways of the day--use AI to delegate some of the noise to focus on the value-add, and BOLO for the next generation of directors coming through the ranks with a focus on stakeholder capitalism rather than purely financial value 🤩 Kim Sgarlata Cheryl Holl Valerie Goodwin Jibran Ahmed Anna Sauvarin (nee Trump) Neil Papworth Tanya O'Carroll 🇮🇪🇮🇲 Oliver de la Fosse Jo Gorrod James Tracey Zoubeir Khatib John Doublard Stuart Dowding Sophie Ferbrache Fallon Holley (née Saussey) Vicky Law
