As Regional Co-Director for the Latvian American Chamber of Commerce in Riga, alongside Matiss Kukainis, J.D., LL.M., we’ve had the pleasure of hosting impactful events in 2024, offering valuable networking and learning opportunities. While these efforts take our free time, it’s been truly rewarding to see everything come together and witness our community’s growth. Event highlights include a fantastic gathering featuring practical insights from SAF Tehnika JSC, Janis Bergs, Primekss | PrīmX® Industrial Concrete Flooring & Structural, Janis Oslejs, and United States Embassy Riga, Latvia Mr. Christopher Robinson. We also had the privilege of hearing from Davis Siksnans about Printful’s success in the U.S. and Marsh, Helena Zikova’s valuable thoughts on new-age leadership aspects. In the summer, we added more fun by collaborating with other chambers and organizations for purely networking events, refreshing drinks on sunny terraces, and donating entrance fees to a good cause Ronald McDonald House Charities. The Drone Symposium, organized by the LACC and the Latvian Embassy to the U.S., Supported by Aizsardzības ministrija, Latvijas Investīciju un attīstības aģentūra - LIAA and Latvijas Mobilais Telefons SIA brought 14 Latvian UAV companies to Washington, D.C. and was a huge success, paving the way for next year’s Security-themed conference. To wrap up the year, we gathered for a recap with gingerbread and a glass of wine to celebrate. It's been rewarding to see our community grow and to witness all we've achieved in Riga. Looking ahead to 2025 – more valuable connections, opportunities, and continued support for Latvian companies expanding into the U.S. A heartfelt thank you to the entire LACC team for their unwavering support and dedication. Panattoni Bjorrod project is a demonstration of what’s achievable when developers prioritize eco-efficiency. By optimizing design and reducing concrete thickness, PRIMX delivered results impossible with traditional flooring solutions. Thanks to Panattoni Sweden’s forward-thinking approach and their alignment with Primekss | PrīmX® Industrial Concrete Flooring & Structural advanced concrete technology, this project achieved a remarkable CO₂ reduction of 177,244 kg.    𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿? Because it’s developers like Panattoni who set the benchmark for measurable carbon footprint reduction, inspiring others to follow suit.    To put into perspective the amount of CO₂ reduced in this project alone, it is equivalent to driving 37 times around the Earth or the carbon footprint of 354,488 kanelbullar — the iconic Swedish cinnamon bun and a fika essential. Ralejs Tepfers was one of the pioneering researchers who recognized the many advantages of fiber-reinforced concrete over traditional reinforced concrete solutions. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 & 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Last week, our team participated in a workshop hosted by The JNE Group of Companies in Canada, focusing on large-scale heavy industrial concrete projects like steel mills. Primekss | PrīmX® Industrial Concrete Flooring & Structural was invited for our exclusive expertise with steel fiber-reinforced, self-stressing concrete (SFRSSC solutions, known for optimizing project cycles and delivering superior results. We shared strategies to address the unique challenges of harsh industrial environments, streamline construction, and accelerate both design processes and project completion timelines. Project update. First few pours for DSV - Global Transport and Logistics in Innisfil, ON are down. This 1.2M sf project will keep us busy here for next couple months. This is not our first million square footer this year for DSV. We know what to do. Together with Belmont Concrete Finishing Co we have prepared our game plan and we are ready to finish the same we started - with smooth looking slabs!
