  • We are pleased to announce that MARK ARHITEKTI’s proposal in the competition “Development of the City Quarter ‘Tērbatas Dārzi’” has won 1st place and will proceed to the next stage of project development! Tērbatas Dārzi is a new residential block in the historic center of Riga, deeply rooted in the values and identity of the area. The development vision of the competition foresees three new, high-quality residential buildings that blend seamlessly with the surrounding environment, featuring a “green heart” - a spacious, richly landscaped courtyard. The proposed development is designed as a bridge between the architectural language characteristic of Riga’s historic center and a nature-oriented living space that meets modern quality of life standards. The developer, ESTERA DEVELOPMENT, plans to start the construction work of the 1st phase at the beginning of 2025, and MARK ARHITEKTI will continue to work on the development project of the block. • 🎉 VICTORY ANNOUNCEMENT! MARK ARHITEKTI TAKES 1ST PLACE IN THE ARCHITECTURE COMPETITION FOR ZUNDA BRIDGE! 🎉 On April 8th, the winner of the architectural design competition for a pedestrian bridge across Zunda Canal was announced. Among 11 competing entries, the top spot was secured by the team behind the motto “ABI DIVI.” The project’s authors include Mark Architects, Kurbads Bridges, ALPS Landscape Workshop, and IE.LA Engineers. The bridge construction is scheduled to be completed by spring 2026, with the next step being the development of the detailed building design. PROJECT CONCEPT DESCRIPTION: The Zunda Bridge plays a special role in Riga’s urban landscape and the lives of its residents. It fulfills several missions, offering new alternatives due to technical constraints of the existing pedestrian bridge near Mazā Ūdens Street. Connecting Durbes and Paula Valdena Streets, it becomes a “student bridge” linking the campuses of Riga Technical University (RTU) and RISEBA. This new bridge serves as a cornerstone for urban development, creating a high-quality blue-green infrastructure along the Zunda Canal with significant social functions. It exemplifies how a technical structure can rejuvenate a waterway, transforming the bridge into a vibrant public space. #ZundaBridge #UrbanDevelopment #Architecture #Innovation

Eižens Laube’s neoclassical private villa has been transformed into an creative “home coming” office for the worldwide known Latvian company Madara Organic Skincare. Re-designed with great care for the historic spirit and details, and it was a wise choice for the excellent event - a children’s book presentation about architecture. The book characters - a lady architect and her imaginary friend - led the readers through the world of different architectural styles. The book is beautifully written and illustrated, and it is an important addition to Latvian children’s literature - highly recommended for adult and children. Read the book not to sink your curiosity.
