Our 2024: wrapped and delivered 🎁 Before we sign off for the year, we thought we’d pull together a highlight reel of moments that made this year *one of a kind*. Here’s a sneak peek: 🏅 We were recognised by CNBC and Statista as one of the top 150 insurtechs worldwide and made it on CB Insights’ Insurtech 50 list! 🎼We orchestrated meaningful partnerships with Mastercard, bunq, Helvetia Insurance Group and more. 🎉 We celebrated throughout the year with a New Year’s bash, JC’s farewell BBQ, creative costumes, karaoke nights, a football tournament and so much more – because life’s too short to take ourselves too seriously, right? 🌱 We participated in some great ESG and culture initiatives, from the street clean-up challenge to a charity run to supporting Baudouin de La Rochefoucauld on his Atlantic rowing adventure – while earning our EcoVadis Silver Medal! Too many good times to count, but one thing’s for sure: we’re super grateful for the connections, laughter and memories we shared this year. For a bonus surprise: swipe to see all the unhinged Slack emojis we added to our collection. #SuccessEnsured #2024UnQovered

Entrepreneurs aren’t reckless risk-takers. The truth? They’re often masters at minimising risk. There’s a huge misconception that successful entrepreneurs are bold risk-takers. In reality, many (myself included) are actually risk-averse. I recently came across a Forbes article that framed this perfectly: ‘Entrepreneurship isn’t about insensitivity to risk. It’s about eliminating as much risk as possible.’ This got me thinking about my own entrepreneurial journey. Being risk-averse doesn’t mean avoiding uncertainty: it means facing it head-on with a thoughtful, calculated approach. The reality is that you can’t eliminate all risks when building a company, but you can minimise them. And sometimes, that starts with challenging your own perceptions about what it means to take risks. During my previous corporate life, I was sure of one thing: I would never become an entrepreneur. My conservative nature made the idea unthinkable. I thought, maybe one day, I might buy an existing company – but never in a million years would I build something from scratch. And here I am… Taking uncalculated risks for the thrill of it doesn’t lead to success; it fast-tracks failure. The entrepreneurial journey to me is about being strategic. It’s about minimising risk and breaking the journey into milestones: one step at a time. The approach of staggered financing in new ventures, where you raise capital not to jump from A to Z but to fund your needs to reach the next milestone and then raise again, is a great example of a selected risk-taking approach. From funding rounds to resource allocation, every stage is carefully defined to reduce risk. At its core, entrepreneurship isn’t about reckless bravery – it’s about measured decisions, resilience and having the confidence to act despite uncertainty. Fun fact you might not know: In the early days of Qover, JC and I used to joke about this. He was the overly optimistic founder. And me? I was the paranoid, pessimistic one, always asking: ‘What could go wrong?’ So, what’s your take? Do you believe entrepreneurs are risk-takers or do you see it differently? #Entrepreneurship

Insurers & insurtechs: strong alliances to the core 🍏 Not long ago, the industry saw insurers and insurtechs as mortal enemies – okay, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but we certainly weren’t considered friends. Today? The tune has changed. The truth is that we can do a lot more when we work together, and end customers certainly benefit. But partnerships like this don’t happen by chance – they take commitment (much like a marriage, as our CEO & Co-founder Quentin Colmant likes to say). In our recent webinar ‘The power of embedded insurance partnerships: how to create a winning ecosystem’, Quentin led an engaging and eye-opening discussion about the state of partnerships today and what it takes to really make them work. Some key components our panel agreed on? Having open communication, a shared customer-centric vision, and figuring out what your strengths and weaknesses are. Hear from Michael Maicher, Global Partner & Director at Allianz Partners, below and get more insights in our recap blog from Kai-Uwe Schanz, Deputy Managing Director at The Geneva Association, and Ana de Montvert, our Head of Partnerships 👉 https://hubs.li/Q02_TXcB0 #StrategicPartnerships #InsurancePartnerships #Insurtech #EmbeddedInsurance #EmbeddedInsuranceOrchestration #SuccessEnsured

Here’s how to get auto insurance pricing right 🚗 The most challenging aspect of embedded motor insurance for OEMs? Maintaining a competitive pricing model – especially when keeping repairs in-network and with the rising costs of repairing electric cars. This is where car makers have an edge: with increasingly connected vehicles, they have unique insight into how they’re being used. And if they combine that with claims data, they can make insurance more affordable and relevant for drivers. It’s about finding that sweet spot where cost-effectiveness meets customer satisfaction, reducing the total cost of ownership and building trust 👏 We asked industry leaders from Digital Solutions P&C at Munich Re – Falk Albers, Senior Executive Partner, Global Leader Mobility, and Joachim Mathe, Head of Insurance Consulting – and Phil Norris, Chief Product Innovation Officer at AND-E about how OEMs can fine-tune their pricing strategy and differentiate their insurance offering. Did 2024 go as I predicted? Let's see how my 8 insurtech trends shaped up. Back in January I made some predictions for what this year had in store for the insurtech industry – a few on the spicier side, and others a tad more obvious. Let's find out if they lived up to the hype or fell flat: 1️⃣ The rise of AI in insurtech Okay, I'm starting with a safe one here. This year, major insurtechs and insurers launched AI initiatives aimed at both internal operations and customer-facing solutions. And Qover was no exception. I wrote a column and hosted a webinar on how we're integrating AI into claims and customer care, and we're now implementing AI more broadly throughout the company (more on that soon). 2️⃣ Insurtech bankruptcies Still waiting on this one. Could 2025 be the year? 3️⃣ A greater focus on ESG With stricter ESG regulations in Europe, we've seen companies reevaluating their suppliers and putting more emphasis on sustainability when choosing partners. On Qover's side, we kicked off the year with a Silver Medal Ecovadis rating and we started blogging about our ESG initiatives. 4️⃣ Regulation, regulation, regulation From the Digital Operational Resilience Act to the AI Act, insurtechs are navigating a new regulatory and compliance landscape, but so far no increased competition between regulators as I initially predicted. 5️⃣ Strategic investors taking over insurtech funding This one? Too soon to tell. Early data from 2024 doesn't show a major shift in this direction. But we'll have to wait and see if the second half of the year brought more activity. 6️⃣ Continued adoption of embedded insurance With a compound annual growth rate of 19%, embedded insurance continues to make insurance simpler and more accessible for end customers – contributing to a global safety net of protection. 7️⃣ An auto insurance revolution The automotive industry is shifting gears from traditional affinity programs to embedded insurance solutions, which is giving OEMs more control over the value chain. Case in point: we wrote an entire white paper on the subject, where 12 experts tackled the topic from across the auto insurance space. 8️⃣ The first insurtech scandal I can say that this one is half-true, although the real 'scandal' was the Vesttoo case in 2023. For 2024, the changes and uncertainty at wefox was the biggest surprise. Final score: 5/8. Not bad. Did any of these predictions surprise you (or not)? I'll be sharing my 2025 predictions soon – which of these trends do you think will shape the year ahead? Drop your thoughts below 👇 #2024predictions #Insurtech #EmbeddedInsurance #EmbeddedInsuranceOrchestration #SuccessEnsured

Officially qovering the Atlantic 🌊 We can’t believe Baudouin de La Rochefoucauld, our former Strategic Partnerships Lead, finally set off on his journey to row across the Atlantic. Some Qover teammates (shout out Theodora Bombassei and Nathalie Votron) even made the journey to Gran Canaria to give him and his team the send-off they deserve. We’re not jealous of the blue skies & sunshine at all…🌴 In case you missed it, Baudouin is rowing in support of Association LAZARE, an inspiring initiative connecting young professionals and the homeless to share homes, build communities and transform lives 👏 Wishing Baudouin and his team the very best of luck – we’re cheering you on and can’t wait to hear how you tackled the high seas!

Travel is full of surprises – insurance shouldn’t be one of them 🚫 Instead of leaving customers to compare endless travel insurance options (and hoping they pick the right one 🤞), banks and fintechs can address this need head on. By embedding travel insurance into their payment cards and premium accounts, they eliminate the hassle and uncertainty for cardholders. It’s a win-win: financial service companies can enhance product appeal and build stronger customer loyalty while creating a better overall experience. We’re already making this happen for fintech leaders like Revolut, bunq, Lydia, Qonto and Yonder. In bunq’s Update 26, Product Marketing Manager Samantha de Groen shows how users can easily access their insurance and file claims without ever leaving their app. Watch the demo below and check out our latest blog to learn why now is the perfect time for financial services companies to embrace embedded travel insurance 👉 https://hubs.li/Q02-5R1x0 #bunqUpdate26 #SuccessEnsured #EmbeddedInsuranceOrchestration #TravelInsurance #Insurtech #Fintech #Insurance
