🌏International Biodiesel Day! Rudolf Diesel designed the diesel engines so they could work on both petroleum and biodiesels. It is doubtful if he understood, at that time, the importance of his choice, taking into account the scarcity and polluting emissions of fossil fuels. Today’s focus on zero emission technologies, only considering tailpipe emissions, offer implementable solutions for urban -short distance- transport. Until these technologies (BEV and FCEV) are at the TRL and at price levels which allow economic responsible implementation on long distance bus- and truck services, Busworld Foundation calls for a level playing field for technologies and fuels which ensure either zero emissions (tank to wheel) or CO2-neutrality (well to wheel), such as bio- or synthetic fuels. The equal recognition of both kind of energy sources will significantly; 1. fasten the reduction of green gas emissions coming from heavy-duty long-distance transportation services, by 80% 2. improve the opportunities for long haul coach and truck companies to realize the energy transition.  #Biodiesel #zeroemission #sustainabletransport #greenenergy #busworld
