Day 1 of the Biggest News in AI and AI model that reasons and thinks “much like a human”!!! 😳 Yep Open AI just said that…faaaar out. Open AI has released ChatGPT o1, the model is trained to take time to respond, to actually “think” (reason) about the answer before responding, much like a human would. That statement “think much like a human” gives a massive clue into the possibilities of this new model series. There has been much speculation that Open AI has cracked AGI (Artificial General Intelligence), now while I’m not sure this model o1 is necessarily AGI it’s sounding a lot like it or maybe a couple of versions down the track it will be! The name of the model GPT o1 signifies they are starting the model development again this is the first in a series of developments in AI that thinks and reasons!! ChatGPT o1 impressive features are 🤖 PhD level capabilities - performs similarly to PhD students on challenging benchmark tasks in physics, chemistry, and biology. 🤖 excels in maths - In a qualifying exam for the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO), GPT-4o correctly solved only 13% of problems, while the GPTo1 reasoning model scored 83%! 🤖 Super Coder - coding abilities reached the 89th percentile in Codeforces competitions. 🪬Safety with great reasoning comes great responsibility - Given the human like reasoning safety is crucial. In safety testing on one of the hardest jailbreaking tests, GPT-4o scored 22 (on a scale of 0-100) while GPT o1-preview model scored 84. This is critical as the model moves beyond preview mode and have full access the the web and wide application, especially as the reasoning capabilities improve and we move to an AGI enabled world. Nov 22 the world was blown away with ChatGPT-1 and today signifies the next massive step forward in the evolution of AI and therefore society at large. 1.5 years for ChatGPT (AI) to reach 92% adoption by Fortune 500 companies in April 2024. Do you think that all of those Fortune 500 companies might know something about the benefits of AI?
When & how much should we invest in AI? That’s one of the critical questions occuping the minds of boards & CEO’s right now. Should we invest now to be a leader, should we be a faster follower or should we wait for the tech to mature until it’s proven? Great strategic questions…with Microsoft investing US$14B per quarter & having already invested more in AI than any company in history, & Meta is investing US$30B on Nividia GPU Chips for AI (yep just the chips) I’d suggest that big tech knows something that most companies boards don’t… AI is going to be the biggest disruption to modern business…ever & it’s going to happen really fast. Think 5years for 80% adoption of AI. In the attached McKinsey article it says if you back to the 1800’s the steam engine “technology” was around for 1,800 years prior to the mass adoption of steam power disrupted 80% of all businesses in just 20years. AI has been around since the 50’s & Covid forced 10years of digital transformation to happen in 2 years. We have more data being produced than ever, with a global cloud infrastructure to leverage. I believe that we are already at maturity for AI, look at the adoption S-Curve “the doing” stage of adoption. Although we are only 1% through the disruptive impact of AI.
