Did you know Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT) regularly services some of the largest boxships to have ever accessed Melbourne Bay? In the seven years since the start of operations, we have consistently and efficiently handled several of the largest vessels to ever call at the Port of Melbourne. This is thanks to the latest technology operating at VICT and our prime location on the bay side of the West Gate Bridge. 🌟 We are equipped with seven remotely controlled Neo-Panamax ship-to-shore cranes, with an outreach of up to 22 containers and a lift height of up to 49 meters. Joined by Mr. Ralph Vincent C. Abarquez, Consul of the Philippines in Melbourne, and Mrs. Ceres M. During their visit, they explored our efficient, innovative, and sustainable fully automated equipment and operations. They also had the opportunity to see the OOCL DURBAN, part of the A3C Service, which connects key locations in Central East Asia with Australia. We were delighted to welcome Professor Hadi Ghaderi and Dr Steven Percy from Swinburne University of Technology, alongside Dr. Lee-Ann Breger from the iMOVE Australia Cooperative Research Centre (CRC). They had the chance to get an up-close look at the cutting-edge, sustainable, and innovative technology driving our terminal operations. Following the tour, we dove into an engaging discussion on some of the most pressing topics in our industry today: decarbonization, energy efficiency, and skills development—crucial areas where collaboration between industry and academia has the potential to make a lasting impact.
