The Commonwealth of Australia has decided to make a direct investment in Vault Cloud and entered into a new type of arrangement called a Sovereign Defence Security (SDS). I founded Vault on the conviction that when an Australian gets services from the Government their data should not be sent to a foreign company and that Australia should have sovereign control of its national security. Australian digital infrastructure is a critical backbone of our nation. The SDS binds Vault at the most substantive levels of corporate governance to remain aligned to Australia’s national interest. In my opinion, there can be no greater level of sovereignty and trust than an SDS for an innovative company. The SDS is a material milestone in achieving the founding vision of Vault. The SDS provides guarantees that are beneficial to the national and economic security of Australia. As a taxpayer you should be happy that every dollar of agency spend will have Retained Economic Benefit. Vault is Australia’s National Hyperscale Cloud, the SDS solidifies this market position into the future. Internally, this will drive new jobs and new projects. The Government has funded Vault to build more features in the existing SECRET Cloud, develop an AUKUS Cloud and design a Deployable Cloud. The teams in the Government, the National Reconstruction Fund and Vault worked nights and weekends to make this happen. Thank you for all your hard work! And of course thank you to Ed Husic MP for making this all happen and flying across the country to make the announcement. A pivotal individual that supported this outcome was the Department of Defence CIO, Chris Crozier. Chris has been a supporter of best in class sovereign capability since I have known him and went out of his way to help establish the SDS. Thank you Chris! In the landscape of the Buy Australia Plan, a Future Made in Australia, Retained Economic Benefit, the definition of an Australian Business, Commonwealth Procurement Rule changes, a Cabinet that is great to work with and the SDS - I am looking forward to what is set up to be a great year in 2025. https://lnkd.in/g3pbnX9i

Everyone gets how incredibly important it is to keep data secure - and there are terrific Australian firms like Vault Cloud developing home-grown solutions to ensure we can provide for sovereign data management and build up our own critical tech capability in the process. This week we announced that the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation is investing $22.5m in Vault Cloud to help them deliver the development of important data security in the defence arena. NRF CIO Mary Manning and I got to personally congratulate Vault's, Rupert Taylor-Price on the news. Rupert has been a massive champion for the role of Australian businesses in growing our nation's tech edge. Great to see this support build Vault's ability to deliver for our country.
