As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? You might’ve dreamt of becoming an astronaut, a vet or the world’s fastest runner, just like the kids on-screen. Just like you, we believe all children should be able to grow up to achieve their dreams. The Kids’ Cancer Project aims to find better treatment for children’s cancers with today’s research leading to life-saving breakthroughs for tomorrow. About us
The Kids’ Cancer Project is an independent national charity supporting childhood cancer research. Since 1993, thanks to strong community support, the charity has contributed tens of millions of dollars to scientific research projects to help children with many types of cancer. Founder, Col Reynolds OAM, has a steely focus to make a difference to the lives of kids living with cancer. It all started on an ordinary day in the late 1980s when the bus driver was driving his empty tourist coach past the Children’s Hospital in Camperdown, Sydney. After stopping to let two youngsters with bald heads cross the road, he parked his vehicle and went into the hospital on the spur of the moment. Touched by the spirit of everyone he met that day, Col made it his personal mission to help kids with cancer in any way he could. Very early in his quest, he learned the only way to improve outcomes for these children would be through advances in medical research. OUR MISSION To support bold scientific research that has the greatest chance of clinical success in the improvement of treatments of childhood cancers. OUR VISION One hundred per cent survival of children with cancer while eradicating the harmful impacts treatment can bring.

The Kids' Cancer Project CEO Owen Finegan and Head of Partnerships Patrick Phibbs were on hand in Melbourne last month to accept a $10,000 cheque from Blue Sky Services. Blue Sky began supporting The Kids' Cancer Project in 2023, participating in several initiatives including K'day and the Better Challenge. The property maintenance outfit will continue their support as an official Matching Day Partner for K'day in 2025! We want to thank Kasun Samarawickrama and his team for coming on board to help us realise our dream of no child dying from cancer. If your business would like to support The Kids' Cancer Project this K'day, or any other day, please contact State Manager QLD – Effie Kent.

Can’t believe 2024 is almost over! What an incredible year it’s been—both professionally and personally. I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has supported The Kids' Cancer Project and helped us continue our mission to fund life-saving childhood cancer research. If you have a few minutes, I’d love for you to check out my article below, where I’ve shared some highlights and reflections on the amazing year we’ve had. A special thank you to our CEO, Owen Finegan, for making it possible for me to return to my hometown and drive the mission of The Kids' Cancer Project here in Queensland. Wishing you all a joyful Christmas and a safe, prosperous New Year. Here’s to even bigger things in 2025—see you on the other side!

✨Our last Fundraiser Spotlight for 2024 is none other than Scott Gummery!✨ Scott was inspired to fundraise for The Kids' Cancer Project following his son Spencer being diagnosed with anaplastic ependymoma, an aggressive brain cancer. Fundraising his way, Scott created Team RiseandShine for the annual BulldustNBack, a four-day motoring adventure that leads drivers in wacky and wonderful old cars through WA’s outback to raise money for charities🚗 This year, the team have raised over $20,000 for childhood cancer research, raising their grand total for the past four years to over $100,000, a truly phenomenal effort🎗️🏆 Thank you to Scott, Greg, Team RiseandShine and their community of donors for your commitment to childhood cancer research. We can't wait to do more with you all for kids with cancer in 2025!💛

The Construction Cup Soccer Tournament, hosted by Hansen Yuncken on 25 October, managed to kick plenty of goals for childhood cancer research. The tournament, hosted in Adelaide, managed to raise $2,630 for childhood cancer research! We’re immensely thankful for the contributions made by Hansen Yuncken and all those in attendance, who either purchased socks or made donations to The Kids’ Cancer Project. Every single one of you have brought us closer to our dream of no child dying from cancer. If your business would like to host an event to support The Kids' Cancer Project, please reach out to our State Manager Effie Kent at effie@tkcp.org.au.
