Thank you Brussels for the 11th Annual High Level Conference on Raw Materials. A great opportunity to meet with policymakers and industry representatives to discuss how to accelerate and strengthen the European value chain of raw materials needed for the green transition and our self sufficiency. And foremost natural graphite, of course! Most exciting was to listen to Executive Vice-President for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy, Mr Stéphane Séjourné’s keynote speach. He has quite an impressive portfolio at the European Commission which I believe will be very important for our industry. Also got a quick chat with MEP Sofie Eriksson and invited her to visit Talga Group and Luleå soon. 🔋🚀

A great week in Strasbourg is coming to an end. We have met with MEPs and political advisors and discussed the importance of a strong European battery value chain, where Talga’s natural graphite can make a big difference. I also had the pleasure of witnessing the voting in of Ursula von der Leyen’s new commission 🇪🇺♻️🔋

Med naturlig svensk grafit kan vi minska klimatavtrycket med hela 92 % jämfört med den syntetiska grafiten!   Grafiten är central för klimatomställningen. Den behövs för elektrifieringen och finns i våra elbilsbatterier, i drönare och våra smartphones. Hälften av ett elbilsbatteri idag, ca 60 kg, består av grafit.   Den grafit som används i våra elbilsbatterier tillverkas på syntetisk väg - främst i Kina eller av Kina i andra delar av världen. Den framställs genom att, förenklat, koka råolja i 3000 grader under tre veckor. Med stora klimatavtryck.   Men: Vi kan bryta vårt stora beroende av omvärlden, öka vår självförsörjning och minska klimatavtrycket!   I Vittangi i Norrbotten, bara någon mil från min mammas hemby Vettasjärvi, har Talga en fyndighet av naturlig grafit. Det är den största och mest höghaltiga grafitfyndigheten i hela Europa! Det ger oss fantastiska möjligheter för framtiden. Idag fick jag möjlighet att tala om Talgas resa på temat ”Case: Almost there, and what we learned along the way. The journey of the Talga Vittangi Project” på Svemin höstmöte. Och givetvis visade jag upp en fin liten bit naturlig grafit från Vittangi! Så roligt att berätta om vårt Vittangi-projekt, om vår resa, lärdomar och inte minst våra framgångar - med positiva besked de senaste veckorna om bearbetningskoncession, att miljötillståndet vunnit laga kraft och 770 miljoner i stöd från EUs innovationsfond till vår anodfabrik i Luleå! When the whole Swedish mining industry gathered for the The Swedish Association for Mines, Mineral and Metal Producers annual Autumn Summit, our Global Business Line Manager Hoisting Björn Jonsson was joined on stage by Euromines General Director Rolf Kuby and Svemins CEO Maria Sunér to discuss the key findings from our recently launched global mining report: Mining's Moment - The pathway for urgent real progress in responsible mining. We are pleased to report that the Swedish Supreme Court has dismissed all requests for leave to appeal the Environmental and Natura 2000 permit for the Nunasvaara South natural graphite mine, part of our vertically integrated Vittangi Anode Project in northern Sweden. This decision concludes the statutory appeals process, and the Environmental and Natura 2000 permit is now officially in force. ✅ This follows other recent key milestones for the Vittangi Anode Project, including the award of a EU Innovation Fund grant for the Luleå Anode Refinery and the approval of the Nunasvaara South’s Exploitation Concession.
