What a journey it has been. Finally arrived at the opening of WA’s first entirely endorsed midwife-led maternity service at Bentley Health Service by Premier Roger Cook. It was great to see big smiles and eager faces from the East Metropolitan Health Service midwifery team and user groups. Today marked a very important day for EMHS with the opening of WA’s first entirely endorsed midwife-led maternity service at Bentley public hospital. Premier Roger Cook and Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson were on hand to officially open the new $2.6 million facility. Bentley Hospital's Midwifery Birth Centre will provide women within the EMHS catchment area a new - and increasingly requested - option for childbirth. And in a first for public hospitals in WA, the service is led and entirely staffed by Credentialed and Endorsed midwives.
