  • Creating ripples Podcast - 42min In this podcast Prosper Taruvinga and I talk all things culture (in construction), self-care, self-compassion, gratitude, kindness, and hope for the future. Some teasers... Gratitude - research shows the power of gratitude improves mental and emotional health. Self-compassion means being kind and understanding toward ourselves when we suffer, fail, or feel inadequate, rather than ignoring our pain or flagellating ourselves with self-criticism. Self-care is a key way we protect our mental health and improve our wellbeing. Ubuntu is an ancient African word meaning 'humanity to others'. It is often described as reminding us that 'I am what I am because of who we all are'. And much much more. Hope you enjoy! Ripple Challenge: Watch the podcast and add a comment if anything resonates with you out of what you heard. #ripppleon #rippleaffectinstitute #livelongdigital #ripplechallenge

  • EQ - emotional intelligence If you have been a part of our Ripple Affect Institute sessions, you will know we spend substantial time on this subject. The importance of having a leader with high EQ and how it impacts their teams. EQ is very complex as it has various parts to it including being self aware and really understanding yourself. This may seem silly to think about - of course I know myself! But do you? Do you know what you highly value? Do you know what brings you meaning? What brings you joy in your life? What triggers you and why? Ripple Challenge Take 5-10 minutes to write down what you value, what brings you joy, what is most meaningful to you on a day to day basis, what are your triggers…and why. When you go through these things what emotions and feelings come up? When strong emotions come up - how do you respond? Just one of the exercises we do to help leaders understand themselves better and how they are reacting /responding to the world around them. #RippleOn #emotionalintelligence #selfaware #rippleaffectinstitute

Mindset, EQ, & Leadership Expert | I help leaders go from overwhelmed 👉🏼 confident, balanced, & effective with tactical, proven strategies 🔥 On a mission to uplift leadership development the healthy way ✨

Emotional intelligence isn’t the most important leadership skill.(Weird coming from me) I’ll explain: We often tout EQ as THE leadership skill to build. This simple statement is just that... Too simple. Because our EQ is actually a complex, skill amalgamation. It is made of 4 major parts: 1️⃣ Self-awareness - of your emotions, feelings, thoughts, identities, & more 2️⃣ Self management - of your thoughts, actions, & words 3️⃣ Social awareness - of others’ emotions, feelings, thoughts, & dynamics/chemistry in a group setting 4️⃣ Relationship management - to build & maintain healthy connections Each of these parts can be broken down further into individual skills or competencies like: ⇢ External self-awareness ⇢ Self control ⇢ Situational awareness ⇢ Influencing a group It’s kind of like calling leadership a skill. Leadership is not a skill. It’s a grouping of skills. My (most succinct) definition of leadership is: how you influence & build consensus to achieve. If you agree even a little with this definition, you can see how EQ touches every part of how we lead. Now because EQ has so many parts, each human has a different EQ proficiency composition. Or in other words - different mastery levels in each of the 4 parts. That leads to variety in how leadership is displayed. When we are lacking in one part of our EQ, we are lacking in the corresponding area of leadership. Use this quadrant to explore this idea further & gauge where you or leaders you lead might land. The 1st step to improvement? It always starts with awareness. 🤓 And your team isn’t expecting you to be perfect or jump quadrants in a week. But they are expecting you to try. Show them how it’s done. One step at a time. 👊 __________ ♻️ Repost to help educate your network. ➕ Follow me for more tactical leadership tips.

  • Being curious At Ripple Affect Institute we love sharing knowledge, getting curious to deeply understand different perspectives and to network with people who care about things greater than themselves to create a positive impact to the world around them. That being said, what a delightful coaching session with this amazing human being Sarbjeet Singh this afternoon. We connected, shared views, reflected on what was joyful in our lives, and both changed as an impact to having had the chat. Ripple Challenge Find someone to deep dive into an idea, a story, thought, reflection with someone you respect. See where it takes you both. #RippleOn!

Checking in Each day I make it my mantra to check in on someone. To me R U Ok day is not about one day of the year, it’s about a mindset to remember that all of us are going through some sort of struggle each and every day - that’s life! So to actively reach out and check in with mates is important. What’s happening below the waterline of that iceberg…can’t find work…a parent passed away…your child is struggling at school and in life…can’t pay the bills…. These are all real things for many of us. It’s a reminder to not judge someone as they don’t seem to be showing up well. Get curious to see if there is something below the waterline. If there is…sit with deep listening skills. Its not yours to fix…they may just need you to listen. Respond with…how can I help? Be kind. Be compassionate. We are all in this together.

Don’t wait for someone to reach out. Reach in and ask R U OK? any day.
