We are so proud that our Regular Giving Second Reactivation Telemarketing campaign is a State finalist for the Fundraising Institute Australia Most Innovative Campaign Award. This recognition highlights our use of data-driven insights to identify the best donors for a second attempt at reactivating their regular gifts. Contrary to most results for this type of campaign, we achieved even stronger results the second time around. Additionally, our Community Fundraising Team is a first-time finalist for the FIA Fundraising Impact Through Events Award for our 2024 Step Up to Breast Cancer Campaign. 2024 was a make-or-break year for this campaign, and it’s been incredible to see the community rally behind it to support world-class breast cancer research. The campaign experienced a phenomenal year-on-year growth of 423%! Together, let's make Zero Deaths from breast cancer possible. #NBCF #FIAAwards #BreastCancerResearch #CommunitySupport #FundraisingInnovation Lana Do Canto Ray Li Sarah Jane Monahas Laura Edwards LiYing (Linnea) Wang Jasmine Fernandez Taryn O'Brien Poppy H. NBCF is Australia's leading community-funded organisation funding game-changing breast cancer research.
About us
The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is Australia's leading not-for-profit organisation funding world-class breast cancer research towards our vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer. Since our inception in 1994, NBCF has invested around $200M into more than 600 world-class research projects across Australia. In this time, death rates from breast cancer in Australia have reduced by over 40%. We've seen remarkable results, but the job's not done. At NBCF, we’re determined to create a better tomorrow. We know research matters, and it is central and critical to improving breast cancer outcomes. That’s why we fund the very best breast cancer research in Australia by awarding grants via an open national, competitive and rigorous peer review process.

During October, the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) held two events at our offices in Sydney and Melbourne. These "In Conversation" events provided an opportunity for our donors and supporters to hear from and meet inspiring NBCF-funded researchers, our new Executive Director of Research, Dr. Julie Ince-Demetriou, PhD and NBCF CEO, Associate Professor Cleola Anderiesz. These events highlighted the world-class breast cancer research we fund, shared outcomes from NBCF-funded projects, and engaged our amazing supporters in discussions about the bold and ambitious Pink Horizon Research Strategy. “I like to think I will be able to make a yearly donation still for many more years and encourage as many people as I can to understand the importance of getting their screening done particularly if there is family history as there is for me. My mother, aunty and sister all had breast cancer – my mother twice which was hard for the family. I sought testing for the genetic predisposition, and no known genes were found however I was diagnosed in May with surgery in June. Thanks to early screening, research and NBCF, I am living life to the full. Keep up the good work." The Circle of Giving brings together groups of like-minded individuals who want to make a difference to breast cancer outcomes and help us reach our vision of Zero Deaths. To date, since 2015, the Circle of Giving nationally has raised $1.8M, and supported eight esteemed researchers over ten projects. In October, the Circle of Giving Sydney and Melbourne gathered to hear the exciting results of their next alignment with an NBCF-funded research project. Presented by NBCF Chair Adjunct Professor Helen Zorbas AO and NBCF CEO Associate Professor Cleola Anderiesz, the members were delighted to learn the outcome: their continued backing of Associate Professor Clare Stirzaker from the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and Dr Clare Slaney from the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. Philanthropy allows you to make a positive impact during your lifetime to a cause that is important to you, and close to your heart. By supporting us your impact goes beyond funding breast cancer research. When you give, you inspire others to do the same. Imagine a world where no one dies from breast cancer. Together we can create hope and a world where we are contributing to a better understanding of breast cancer.
