Our Queensland team have been delivering world-class rail development and maintenance projects for the sunshine state all year. It’s been a bumper 2024, and the crew celebrated in style at the end-of-year party, where their rail expertise might just be rivalled by their dance moves. The capabilities of our diverse crew, paired with our Queensland-based fleet of plant and equipment, mean we’re ready for any challenge. After a well-earned break, we’ll hit the ground running in 2025 to tackle an ever-growing pipeline of projects across Southeast Queensland. #Martinus #TheMartinusWay

In the last year alone, we’ve designed, developed and renewed 312 bridges across three continents. From century-old icons to modern infrastructure upgrades. And we’re not slowing down. In 2025, we’re taking on the historic Talkeetna Bridge in Alaska, a vast range of critical bridge works on Inland Rail’s Albury to Illabo (A2I) section, and 15 bridges along the T3 Bankstown to Sydenham line for Sydney Southwest Metro. These works are essential to keeping communities connected and ensuring infrastructure meets their social and economic needs for decades to come. #Martinus #TheMartinusWay

We’re completing the demolition and removal of the median strip running through Stacey Street bridge in Bankstown this Saturday night. To minimise commuter disruption, our team has work nights to remove 300 metres of concrete, repave the road and installed Klemmfix barriers. Each shift was successfully wrapped well before the morning rush! These roadworks will allow Stacey Street to remain open to vehicles while our essential bridge strengthening works for the Sydney Metro conversion of the Bankstown line are underway. #Martinus #SWM4 #SydneyMetro

Did you know that we delivered over 25,000 tonnes of rail to a single mega project in North America this year? That’s enough steel to build two and a half Eiffel Towers! And that’s just two deliveries. Across our global projects, we’ve been at work laying the foundations for a massive 2025. If you need rail infrastructure delivered (or an Eiffel Tower), we make it happen. #Martinus #TheMartinusWay

Major rail projects demand more than just technical expertise. They require strong leadership, clear communication, and the ability to navigate complexity. In the latest Rail Express, our Engineering Managers, Nicolas Jaramillo Arango and Zoë Cruice, discuss how we maximise project success. From aligning diverse stakeholder interests to embedding effective requirements management, our approach keeps projects on course, avoids costly setbacks, and drives value through innovative solutions and value engineering. Whether it’s managing competing constraints or refining scope, Nic and Zoë share what it takes to deliver exceptional outcomes on some of the most challenging rail projects. We’re proud to welcome James Leach to the team as our Project Director for Queensland. James brings a tonne of rail and general construction experience. He completed his civil engineering degree with honours and began his career with British Rail in 1988. Over the years, he’s worked in major project delivery, business development, and ECIs, and has also completed a master’s in transportation as well as an MBA. Since moving to New Zealand in 2002, his experience has grown to include stints at Transfield and John Holland as a general manager of construction, as well as sitting on alliance and joint-venture boards for infrastructure projects. James has played a key role in helping Martinus deliver works on New Zealand’s largest-ever rail project, the City Rail Link. His proven ability to drive business development and project delivery is a major boon for the Sunshine State. “Queensland has got a very strong pipeline of work. It's probably the place to be if you want to work in rail and construction in general with the Olympics.” What does James like about working with us? “There's an absolute can-do attitude in Martinus and the ability to make decisions quickly.” The fact James spoke to our leadership team on a Tuesday and landed in Brisbane the next Monday demonstrates that decisiveness. James has been making his way around Queensland to meet staff and build the relationships with local contractors and clients that set us apart. We’re stoked to have James on the team, and with his wealth of rail experience. Want to connect with James? Reach out and say g’day!

Our CEO, Treaven Martinus, hit the stage at AusRAIL today as part of the Productivity, Safety, and Future Skills panel. Hosted by Natalie Currey, the discussion brought together industry heavyweights Steve Butcher, Harriet Christopherson, and Jon Daley. Treaven cut through with insights on how our self-delivery model drives productivity while investing in people, and future skills development. He made it clear, self-performing teams are key to building a safer, smarter and more skilled workforce for the rail industry. #Martinus #TheMartinusWay #AusRAIL #AusRAIL2024
