Jensen PLUS was again a proud sponsor of the Planning Institute of Australia’s Awards for Planning Excellence in South Australia, held on 30 November at the Adelaide Pavilion. “I am pleased to support this important awards program, which recognises and celebrates great planning outcomes in South Australia and the people behind them,” says Michael McKeown, Jensen PLUS Director. Jensen PLUS sponsored the Planning Champion Award which was awarded to Sarah Melin from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. “It’s clear that Sarah has a bright future ahead of her and I wish her well for continued success and achievements.” Read the full story https://lnkd.in/dUkTYAvS #jensenplus #planning #landscapearchitecture #urbandesign #socialplanning #stakeholderengagement

The Jensen PLUS team is excited to be working with the Outback Communities Authority on a project to enhance the sense of arrival into Leigh Creek through a functional and iconic entrance statement. Patrick Iwanyshyn (Senior Urban Designer + Urban Planner) and Chao Du (Landscape Architect) recently visited Leigh Creek, situated west of the northern Flinders Ranges, to present three design concepts and gather community and stakeholder feedback. Pat says that the community was eager to see the concept designs and motivated to participate in the engagement. “It was great to see so many community members participate in the process. From school aged children through to older adults, everyone openly shared their ideas and thoughts on the concepts and their elements. “We gained some valuable insights through the workshops and conversations." We are proud to share that Landscape Architect Chao Du was recently honoured as a Registered Landscape Architect (RLA) by the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA). “It marks my formal entry into the Australian landscape architecture profession and provides an opportunity to establish stronger connections with peers and professionals in the industry. “For me, this recognition is not only about professional growth but also about integrating my previous experience with the unique challenges and opportunities within an Australian context.” With a multicultural background bridging China and Australia, Chao has broad experience in residential, commercial and open space landscape design. “Chao brings a great amount of skill and experience to our team, and our clients benefit greatly from his cross-cultural insights,” says Michael McKeown. “He is a worthy recipient of this recognition, and I have no doubt that it will serve him well in strengthening his skills, expertise and knowledge and the value he adds to our clients and their projects.” Read more about Chao and how this will shape his career https://lnkd.in/gd5kSNTV #jensenplus #planning #landscapearchitecture #urbandesign #socialplanning #stakeholderengagement

We are thrilled to share that our colleague Natalia Gonzalez and her husband Marcelo recently welcomed their daughter, Teresa. Weighing 3 kilograms and measuring 50 centimetres, Teresa arrived on Saturday 24 August to her very delighted parents who say she has brought them much love, joy and some sleepless nights. And they couldn’t be happier. Just like her mother, Teresa enjoys contemplating nature as mum and dad stroll around the neighbourhood. She is fascinated by trees and birds, which are also on her favourite pram mobile. Our warmest congratulations to Natalia and Marcelo! It’s great to see elements of the streetscape upgrade to Murray Avenue, Renmark take shape. Jensen PLUS landscape architect Chao Du captured some photos while visiting Renmark during the recent school holidays. The upgrades include a new wombat crossing to improve safety and connectivity between the town centre and the riverside open space, and new footpaths and landscapes for the streetscape. One of our core values is caring. Collectively, our team cares about the people, places, environments and communities in which we work. This year, our team got together to discuss our giving focus for the coming 12 months and together decided that through our corporate giving, we would support the work of OzHarvest. “In such a trying time, when cost-of-living is impacting people across all of the communities in which we work, putting food on the table has become such a challenge for many,” says Vicki White, Jensen PLUS Business Manager. “OzHarvest not only rescues food from going to waste, but uses it to provide nourishing and nutritious food and meals to the people who need it most.” Read more about our commitment to support OzHarvest https://lnkd.in/gmQgwMKu #jensenplus #planning #landscapearchitecture #urbandesign #socialplanning #stakeholderengagement

The Greater Adelaide Regional Plan (GARP) could be South Australia’s most important urban plan. The 2010 version — the 30 Year Plan — and its 2017 update were influential in setting the planning direction for the region, including a strong emphasis on urban consolidation, housing diversity and sustainable living. “… need to transition to an urban environment centred on walkable neighbourhoods and access to public transport.” A new regional plan has recently been proposed by the South Australia Government’s State Planning Commission. Jensen PLUS Director Michael McKeown says planning is often about balancing — as best as you can — differing objectives and interests, and shares some balanced observations on the draft GARP. Jensen PLUS Director Michael McKeown recently visited the scenic Bagdad-Mangalore Valley, north of Hobart, to commence a new structure planning project for the area. Planning objectives include managing future population and housing needs in a peri-urban location, close to the northern Hobart metro area, that is growing in popularity. At the same time, protecting good quality agricultural land and picturesque landscapes is a high priority for Southern Midlands Council and the community. Understanding community infrastructure needs, planning for safer road networks, and township amenity are among other project objectives. “Bagdad-Mangalore has such a beautiful setting with rolling green hills overlooking a flat valley floor of farmland dotted with homes and villages,” says Michael. “It’s easy to see why people are attracted to this place and the new Bridgewater Bridge currently under construction will make the region that little bit more accessible to Hobart.” Read more about the project https://lnkd.in/ga-P5a5x #jensenplus #planning #landscapearchitecture #urbandesign #socialplanning #stakeholderengagement #tasmania

Earlier this year, Jensen PLUS became a proud 'seed' sponsor of the Adelaide Sustainable Building Network (ASBN) — a not-for-profit organisation that advocates for the uptake of regenerative and ecologically beneficial practices within all industries linked to the built environment, including design and construction. "Not only does ASBN offer a terrific program of events but their Green Book provides a comprehensive listing of organisations that provide solutions for sustainable built environments in South Australia," says Michael McKeown, Jensen PLUS Director. ASBN actively advocates, educates and connects through their events, workshops, tours, projects, resources and thought leadership, to share specialist knowledge, improve awareness and understanding around regeneration in urban environments and showcase innovative projects that demonstrate an active path towards a regenerative future. “Regenerative design is our business purpose — through our work we aim to create better places for people and a positive future for our planet."
