Congratulations to all the winners from this year’s 22nd annual HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence, presented by Sealy Posturepedic. Held at ICC Sydney, the event gathered nearly 1,000 industry leaders and professionals to celebrate outstanding properties in the hospitality world. Our standout moment was the accolade of renowned Melbourne chef Shannon Martinez of Smith & Daughters, a close friend of JACK, when restaurant, Lona Misa at Ovolo South Yarra, claimed the Highly Recommended Restaurant category. Earlier this year, Lona Misa also earned the prestigious One Hat from the Good Food Guide 2024. Known for its bold, rebellious approach to vegan and vegetarian cuisine, Lona Misa continues to push boundaries, earning widespread critical acclaim. After a challenging year, Sydney’s culinary stars came together for a remarkable celebration at the 40th SMH Good Food Guide Awards. Held at the iconic Sydney Opera House, the awards night shone a spotlight on both established names and new culinary talents. From Blacktown to Bangalow, top restaurants were recognized with hospitality’s highest honours during this star-studded event, presented by Vittoria Coffee and Oceania Cruises. Among the highlights, seafood maestros Josh and Julie Niland earned the prestigious Vittoria Coffee Restaurant of the Year award for their fine-dining restaurant, Saint Peter, now located in Paddington’s historic Grand National Hotel. This morning, some of the JACK crew had the pleasure of attending day one of Sydney’s annual NoVacancy Hotel + Accommodation Industry Expo event, where fellow hospitality professionals meet to discuss technology, design, and guest experience. NoVacancy continues to stand as a beacon of inspiration, keeping pace with industry trends and challenges. Hosted in the renowned International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) across September 18 & 19, 2024, NoVacancy is one of the countries largest events for hotel and accommodation professionals.
