"Sometimes it’s like I’m driving a truckload of cattle down a road. And behind me all I can hear is all of them bellowing telling me to go different directions. And some of them are yelling lies, or abusing me, or saying what an idiot I am. And the more I hear it, the more I stew on it and the more I believe it" Do you find you are sometimes like Harry from 'Kick off ya Boots'? Words can be like bullies. They can be hurtful. And some can be very unhelpful. But sometimes you need to just hear them, acknowledge that the thoughts are there and if they hurt or distress you - and let them be. At the end of the day, it's still you who has control of the truck (your mind) and you can steer it where you need to go. Don't let the thoughts control you. As Vicki says, 'Words are just like bullies - let them be...

ifarmwell partnered with Kick off ya Boots and the SA Drought Hub for this years KOYB dinner theatre productions to produce packs of Conversation Cards to encourage farming couples and families to have meaningful conversations. So far, nearly 1000 packs have been given out - and we are continually hearing stories of people using them in the car as they travel, each night after dinner or before bed, in cafes and waiting rooms and as icebreakers in meetings and conferences. Do you have a pack of our conversation cards? Have you found them to be useful in creating meaningful conversations? What were the questions which created the most discussion? Some of the questions include: - If you could farm anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? - Name a song you always turn up when you hear it when driving? - What keeps you awake at night? - What is your favourite season on the farm and why? - What is something you have built or done on your farm that you are proud of? - Tell me about something someone did for you recently that made you feel good? We would love to hear about your experiences.

Ifarmwell was proud to be part of the hugely successful Kick off ya Boots dinner theatre productions of "This Farming Life" in Loxton over the past 2 weekends. Nearly 1200 people attended the 5 shows (4 of which were sold out), which presented wellbeing messaging, tips and strategies integrated into a fun play with lots of laughs, great parody music - and shared over a hearty 3 course meal. Attendees also took home with them a pack of the newly developed ifarmwell "Conversation Cards" which were modelled in the play, with the hope they will help create meaningful conversations between couples and families, while also reflecting on the great things about living and working in rural Australia. John from ifarmwell took a group of rural doctors to Bulla Burra farms just outside Loxton today. Robin Schaefer from Bulla Burra (and John) highlighted some of the farm safety risks involved with machinery, heights, chemicals and more - as well as how fatigue, stress and working alone can affect not only farm safety, but also farmers mental health and wellbeing. Great day out showing a fantastic group of young rural practitioners what farm life is all about - along with some of the risks which ultimately end up needing to be managed in their surgeries! Thanks Dr Sophie Hamilton for initiating - it was a valuable day. National Centre for Farmer Health Farmsafe Australia Inc
