  • Is the almond Carpophilus beetle posing a threat to your orchard? Australia produces over 100,000 tonnes of almonds annually. However, the almond Carpophilus beetle (Carpophilus truncatus) poses a significant threat to Australia’s almond industry, causing yield losses ranging from 5% to 30% in affected orchards. The lure comprises of: - a synthetic pheromone, - co-attractant solution, - shown in field trapping trials to be highly specific and effective at attracting C.truncatus. • ✨ Meet the team: Harriet Coutts ✨ Harriet has been a part of our team for over a year now, coming across from AgriFutures Australia’s Corporate Communications team, bringing a wealth of experience in campaign development, event management and communications. Harriet oversees growAG’s PR activities, communication campaigns, and events, playing a key role behind the scenes in projects like the Catalyst Program, The Earthshot Prize, and growAG’s international go-to-market plans. 🌏 Get to know a bit more about Harriet below: 👉 What is your role? Manager, Communications 👉 How long have you been in the growAG team? I’ve been in the growAG team for over a year now, but with AgriFutures for just over 3 years. 👉 What’s your favourite part about the role? I enjoy creating campaigns, bringing them to life, and connecting with the people behind the stories we share. Identifying a need or challenge within the ecosystem and developing a program or concept that not only highlights the issue but actively works to address it is pretty special. What makes this work truly fulfilling are the people who bring these stories to life. 👉 What’s your favourite ecosystem event? AgriFutures evokeAG is an impressive event, it units the entire supply chain like no other. 👉 Where would you find me outside work? At the gym, in my garden or helping out on the farm. 👉 Tell us a fun or surprising fact about you. I grew up in Brisbane and had very little connection to agriculture. My introduction to agriculture came after I finished university and started working in Local Government in Northern NSW. I’m a long way away from the beach now. 🏖️ If you'd like to connect with Harriet, reach out on LinkedIn or enquire via the link in the comments below 👇
