At GO, we know that the education of young mob isn’t limited to the school gates. It’s a journey of empowerment. It connects people to their purpose and potential, and it's about supporting a person to achieve academic success and personal growth. Empowering Indigenous students in their education means supporting the whole person, from strengthening students’ connection to culture and building relationships with family and community, to creating opportunities for learning and development, and supporting students through the ups and downs. When students are supported on every level—culturally, emotionally, academically, socially—there is no limit to what they can achieve. This is why we focus on delivering a holistic education, building a strong foundation for lifelong growth. It’s what empowers our deadly scholars to make an impact, give back to their communities and take on every opportunity with confidence! #GOFoundation #IndigenousExcellence #IndigenousEducation #EducationAustralia #IndigenousPeople #FirstNations #FirstNationsPeople

GO’s journey began with a simple but important idea: to give back to First Nations young people. And now, 15 years later, this idea has grown into a strong and deadly community of its own. The GO community is made up of people from all over the nation, from all walks of life, with different professional backgrounds and of all ages. These are the people who make it possible for us to deliver on our mission of empowering through education and create a space for Indigenous students to unlock the power of their identity and culture. Every member of our community has contributed to this journey, whether it’s the Elders who speak at our events, our founding partners the Sydney Swans, or the families and alumni who help to make our programs the best they can be. The last 15 years have shown the true power and potential of our collective voice. We wouldn’t be where we are today without all of you! #GOFoundation #IndigenousExcellence #IndigenousEducation #EducationAustralia #BlakExcellence #IndigenousPeople #FirstNations #FirstNationsPeople

Did you know our scholarships team is made up entirely of proud Aboriginal people? From Wiradjuri man, head of our scholarships team and deputy CEO, Mark Heiss, to our Scholarships Managers, Jaru woman Ashlie Rogers, Dhungutti and Gumbaynggirr woman Jaleesa Godson, Wiilman Noongar man Tyran Hill and Scholarships Program Officer, Kamilaroi man Jay Wathen, we make sure that every GO scholar is supported by people who get it. This means that our scholars are not only supported by people who have first-hand experience of the power of culture and identity in education, but they also get access to the team’s diverse industry experience, from education and leadership to community engagement and support work. Our scholarships team knows the ins and outs of what’s happening at GO and being hands-on means they’re always on the move, with no two days looking the same. Whether it be reviewing applications, sharing cultural knowledge, playing sports or simply having a yarn - they’ve always got our scholars’ backs! We couldn’t be prouder of the incredible work our scholarships team is doing, and we’re seeing the impact firsthand - students growing in confidence and carving out their own unique and inspiring paths. 💪🏽 #GOFoundation #IndigenousEducation #FirstNationsEducation #EducationAustralia

At GO, we know how important it is for young mob to dive into all aspects of education, from studying history to first languages, geography to engineering, and everything in between. And this year, GO launched a STEM Camp for young Indigenous students to explore their curiosity and learn through hands-on experiences! 🧑🏽🔬👩🏽🔬🧫🔬 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples were the first scientists, so we knew our young students would have a blast tapping into the knowledges of their ancestors to explore the world of STEM. The Camp did not disappoint, with students building spaghetti towers, coding Sphero robots and talking with GO alumni Jared and Tasya about their inspiring journeys in software engineering and medical science. We all benefit from a more diverse STEM workforce, and we loved being able to support young Indigenous minds as they learn and thrive in such a fun and interactive setting. A special thanks to our partners CGI and Sydney Swans HQ for helping to make this happen! #GOFoundation #IndigenousEducation #FirstNationsEducation #EducationAustralia #STEMCamp #BlakExcellence

The story of our people stretches back over 65,000 years, a story shaped by the leadership, resilience and wisdom of our ancestors. This is a story woven with culture, identity and the continuous passing down of knowledge across generations. Through the power of education, we carry their story forward, continuing to write new chapters while building on the foundation they laid. We continue this legacy by delivering on our core values of: 🖤 Integrity: Maintaining honesty, accountability and ethical leadership in all that we do. 💛 Equality: Creating an environment where people are treated with respect and provided with equal opportunities to thrive. ❤️ Opportunity: Ensuring that each individual in our programs has access to pathways that support their growth, success, and development. 💪🏽 Strength in Culture: Celebrating the richness of First Nations cultures and embedding them as central pillars in our leadership and programs. These values guide everything we do at GO. We hold ourselves to the highest standards, creating impactful programs that not only empower our students, but also their families and our wider Indigenous communities. As our story evolves, we’re proud to walk alongside the generation of Indigenous leaders and witness their achievements! #GOFoundation #IndigenousEducation #BlakExcellence #EducationAustralia

GO Foundation - The Goodes O'Loughlin Foundation reposted this
The GO Foundation - The Goodes O'Loughlin Foundation and Aurora Education Foundation do really important work. They provide practical assistance to help a lot of young Indigenous Australians to finish high school and go on to TAFE or uni. It was a real pleasure to meet some of the students they are helping today and provide extra funding to continue and expand the work they do.
