How can you starting using AI more effectively in 2025? We've put together a guide to prompting that will teach you the skills you need. Most prompting guides emphasise the wrong things: over-structuring your prompts and instructing the AI to “role play” like a business analyst, marketer or sales representative. This emphasis can be misleading. Prompting at its core is the art of effective communication. What’s more important is being clear in your instructions and including the right information into your prompts. Learning to use AI is a skill. Like learning any skill, it requires a mindset of experimentation and play. As we head into 2025, there’s never been a better time to learn to prompt. Many SMEs are still sitting on the sideline when it comes to AI. This is a mistake. Here's why: 1. We're just at the beginning Despite the media attention, we're in the early stages of Generative AI's true potential. Remember, in 1993, there were only 600 websites. By 1998, we were in the dotcom boom. AI is moving even faster. 2. The window of opportunity is shrinking As the pace of change accelerates, the time to get ahead of the curve is now. Wait too long, and you'll be playing catch-up in technology, talent, and business models. 3. Start small, but start now SMEs don't need to over-invest, but they can't afford to ignore AI either. Two high-impact, low-risk initiatives to consider: • Employee training: Upskill your team to identify opportunities and threats early. • AI pilot project: Test AI on a process with clear ROI potential. The race against disruption has begun. Those who take the first steps now will have a significant advantage. Those who delay may find themselves struggling to keep pace. What's your company's AI strategy? Are you leading the pack or playing catch-up?

Your confidential data might be more exposed than you think. What's the number one concern business leaders have regarding AI? They don't understand the risks to cyber and data security. It’s justified - We've seen many cases of employees entering confidential information into ChatGPT, without understanding how this compromises their data. We're developing an online AI Cyber Security Assessment for teams and businesses. In just 10 minutes, you'll be able to get a clear picture of the risks involved and actionable strategies to safeguard your use of AI. Let's explore three powerful strategies to boost your team's AI competency and drive real business value: Learning to use AI is now as crucial as learning to use the internet, yet many still struggle to harness its full potential. How can organisations tangibly bridge this gap? 1️⃣ Immersive AI Workshops: Learning by doing Kickstart your team's AI journey with hands-on workshops. In just a few hours, they can learn to effectively prompt – a skill best learned through practice. AI competency can immediately boost productivity and enable your whole team to spot the opportunities to improve business operations. AI's "invisible" failures can be discouraging. A poorly crafted prompt will still yield a response, but the output will suffer. AI workshops equip your team to overcome this hurdle and unlock value. 2️⃣ Secure AI Sandbox: Innovate without risk Two-thirds of Australian workers already use AI. But without proper safeguards, your sensitive data is at risk. Create a secure AI playground for your team, allowing them to innovate freely while protecting your company's valuable information. 3️⃣ Quick-Win AI Prototype: Turn a bottleneck into a breakthrough Identify an operational pain point and develop a targeted AI prototype. This approach not only demonstrates immediate value but also provides hands-on exposure to the technology. Once you've proven the concept, scale up to a robust, game-changing solution. 📍 The key to AI success is combining education with practical experience. Our co-founder Henry Badgery was recently quoted by LinkedIn News Australia. "AI isn't a magic wand. It requires careful implementation and understanding of your business needs. It's about giving your workforce superpowers to work more effectively" AI has the power to revolutionise your business operations, but successful implementation requires a thoughtful, strategic approach. At Fourday, we've identified three core principles that significantly increase the chances of AI success: 1️⃣ Focus on the measurable impact Don't chase vague promises of "magic solutions." Instead, identify specific opportunities where AI can deliver quantifiable ROI. This approach builds credibility and generates buy-in across your organisation. 2️⃣ Build the right tech foundation Understand AI's strengths and limitations. Create a technological framework that leverages AI's capabilities while understanding its limitations. 3️⃣ Embrace agile development The AI landscape evolves rapidly. Adopt agile methodologies, emphasising rapid prototyping and iterative improvements that involve domain experts. By following these principles, you can transform your business operations with AI in a way that's strategic, measurable, and adaptable to change. Want to dive deeper? More than two in three Aussie workers are using AI in their jobs without their employer’s approval, but experts have raised concerns about privacy and security. Research from software company Freshworks found nearly half of Australian workers were using free AI tools such as ChatGPT to improve their productivity and another half said it saved them at least three hours a week, SmartCompany reports. Freshworks Australia and New Zealand vice-president Andrew Phillips said there was a need for greater guidance and training from employers. "Rules around which tools they can use and which tools they can’t will help employees get the benefits of generative AI without getting the company into trouble," he said. "Training and policies always play catch-up with new technologies." In a LinkedIn post, Henry Badgery, co-founder of AI software Fourday, wrote AI was transforming businesses and those who adapted thoughtfully would thrive. "AI isn't a magic wand. It requires careful implementation and understanding of your business needs. It's about giving your workforce superpowers to work more effectively," he said. Do you utilise AI at work? Does your company have rules around its use? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts in the comments below.
