Thrilled to partner with Lost and Found in Sydney and the Irish Support Agency NSW Inc in delivering this community event, a free sports day and Sunday BBQ at centennial park yesterday! It was great to meet the new arrivals and help them build connections and friendships here in NSW and signpost them to the supports that are available at the Consulate and the at Irish Support Agency. Thanks to all the volunteers who made this event possible, and in particular to Rachel Rushe, whose generosity, kindness and energy is limitless- we are lucky to have her as one of our own! ☘️💚 https://lnkd.in/gtup_GKM

Together with our partners in Enterprise Ireland Australia & New Zealand Ireland, the Embassy of Ireland, Australia & Consulate General of Ireland (New South Wales) was honoured to sponsor the recent Club Hibernia event on 'Mental Health in the Construction Sector'. The impact of adverse mental health on those employed in the construction sector is confronting with one construction worker lost every second day to suicide. Construction is one of the main sectors of employment for many Irish migrants, and as a result the Consulate is working to support our community within this sector. Through our partnership with Club Hibernia and Enterprise Ireland Australia & New Zealand Ireland we delivered an event which featured impactful and inspirational speakers including Marc Niemes from I Am Here, Brad Parker from MATES in Construction, Tadhg Kennelly of WNOW - When No One's Watching, legendary athlete Dan Parks, and Natalie Galea, an Olympian and construction researcher. Thanks to all those who attended and for being part of shining a light on this vital discussion.
