🌿 The seaweed voice🌿 Last week, CleanEyre Global had the privilege of participating in the ASSA - Australian Sustainable Seaweed Alliance Workshop, focused on Asparagopsis: Hatchery and Cultivation. Events like this are vital for bringing the #aquacultureIndustry together, fostering #collaboration, and sharing the knowledge that drives innovation. A key initiative discussed was the #NationalHatcheryNetwork (NHN), which promises to have a transformative impact on the seaweed industry. This project will address critical #biosecurity concerns, establish strong biological and #biodiversity frameworks, and expedite #innovation. By creating a network that runs essential research, the industry can focus on developing the seaweed sector and aligning with market demands. This #collaboration will not only enhance our ability to innovate but will also help safeguard the future of sustainable seaweed farming in Australia. ASSA has become an invaluable force in uniting the seaweed industry with a powerful, united voice. By communicating directly with the Australian Government , ASSA ensures that the seaweed industry's trends, strengths, challenges, and opportunities are heard at the highest levels. This kind of #representation is crucial to shaping #policies that support the sustainable growth of seaweed aquaculture. At CleanEyre Global, we fully support ASSA’s mission and recognize the incredible role they play in making sure our industry's needs are represented in #AustralianNationalBudgets and #policy discussions. The future of sustainable aquaculture depends on strong, unified efforts—and ASSA is leading the way. Eyre Peninsula Field Days 2024 Last week, CleanEyre Global had the amazing privilege to be part of the EP (Eyre Peninsula) Field Days - Cleve, where we joined forces with Cowell Area School and Eyre Shellfish at our aquaculture-focused stand. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with the community and dive into the future of sustainable aquaculture. Our stand was bustling with interactive and colourful live cultures, illustrating our combined efforts towards fostering sustainable community growth and environmental care. The enthusiasm and curiosity from attendees, ranging from local folks to industry experts - and kids, specially once we turned our air pump on! - were truly inspiring. A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand! Your engagement fuels our commitment to not just cultivate seaweed and seafood, but also nurture sustainable practices and inspire kids, which benefits our entire community. Looking forward to more events like these! And whoever thought seaweed couldn't be used for decorative purposes, as well, think again! 🌿 The importance of weekly sampling in seaweed cultures 🌊 At CleanEyre Global, maintaining the health and productivity of our seaweed cultures is essential. One key practice that ensures this is our weekly sampling schedule. Why is weekly sampling important? 📈Track growth rates: by measuring growth rates weekly, we can ensure our seaweed is developing as expected. This allows us to make timely adjustments to optimize conditions and maximize yield. 🤒 Detect early signs of stress or disease: weekly sampling allows us to identify early signs of stress, disease, or nutrient deficiencies. Early detection enables us to take proactive measures to address these issues before they become major problems. 🌵 Monitor the species-composition of our cultures: weekly monitoring allows us to detect invasive-species, ensuring our target-species is the predominant organism in that culture. 🔬 Enhance research and development: regular data collection supports our ongoing research and development efforts. It helps us refine our cultivation techniques and drives innovation in seaweed farming. 💰 Optimize harvesting schedules: consistent sampling provides valuable data to determine the optimal times for harvesting. This ensures we harvest at peak quality and yield. 👌 Quality assurance: weekly harvest allows us to ensure our target-species is happy and growing at its best. Ultimately, this will reflect on the quality of our product. Some cultures will require a more (or less) frequent monitoring, but they will always require constant checks. How often do you monitor yours?

🌿 Friendly reminder: "we didn’t inherit this earth from our grandparents, we borrowed it from our children." 🌿 🌍🌿 Happy Earth Day! 🌿🌍 Did you know that April 22nd is World Earth Day? Organized by Gaylord Nelson and Denis Hayes, it was first celebrated in 1970. It is a time to celebrate our planet and raise awareness about environmental issues and the importance of environmental conservation. At CleanEyre Global, we are committed to creating a better environment by addressing critical challenges such as methane emissions in agriculture and aquaculture. We achieve this through our work with the seaweed Asparagopsis. But it's important to remember that we, as a society, don't need grand action plans to contribute to this movement. Small actions like saving fresh water (while brushing our teeth!), separating and recycling our waste products, and being mindful of and minimizing our effluent discharges are as important and big business plans. This Earth Day, let's come together to protect our planet and support sustainable practices. Together, we can make a difference for a greener, cleaner future. Start small, locally - it all adds up! 🌎💚 ASSA - Australian Sustainable Seaweed Alliance Flinders University Eyre Shellfish Universidade Federal do Rio Grande - FURG #sustainability #Asparagopsis #WorldEarthDay #SeaweedProduction #Aquaculture #AquiculturaParaElas #Oceanography #methanereduction
