Our first batch of new grain hopper wagons have arrived, just in time for Christmas! Ninety-six standard gauge wagons arrived aboard the Eckert Oldendorff at Henderson on Friday 13 December. The wagons were unloaded at the Australian Marine Complex and planned to be commissioned and placed on track in the new year. The build of the remaining 101 standard-gauge and 447 narrow-gauge grain hopper wagons continues, with a second batch of narrow-gauge wagons expected to arrive in the March quarter of 2025. The new wagons, along with new locomotives, will increase our supply chain capacity and help us to achieve our Path to 2033 Strategy.

We are proud to announce a partnership with Blue Visby, making CBH the first global customer of the Blue Visby Solution. Following a successful trial earlier this year, this collaboration signals an exciting step forward in sustainable shipping. It marks the commercial deployment of Blue Visby’s innovative technology, which optimises shipping operations, reduces costs, and achieves measurable carbon emission reductions. Pia Van Wyngaard, CBH’s Head of Shipping, said “partnering with Blue Visby is a milestone in our ongoing commitment to sustainability, operational efficiency, and safety. This technology reinforces our dedication to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.” We’re excited to lead the way in sustainable shipping, setting new standards for environmental responsibility. 🔗 Read more about this partnership and its impact: https://lnkd.in/ge7qnxyy

Today we released our 2024 Annual Report, which outlines our financial and operational performance for the year ending 30 September 2024. The Group reported an adjusted group surplus of $73.8 million, a solid result bolstered by a strong outloading program and a commitment to providing competitive grain and fertiliser prices to growers. The end of the financial year also marked the successful completion of Horizon 1 in our Path to 2033 Strategy – a major milestone for WA grain growers and their co-op. Since the Strategy was launched three years ago, we have successfully achieved our Horizon 1 target, having the ability to outturn more than 2 million tonnes a month. Horizon 1 has also established a robust foundation for Horizon 2, as we continue to execute projects that will drive efficiencies across our supply chain for the benefit of WA growers. It’s official - we have had our biggest day of deliveries in the history of the co-op! On Monday 18 November, the CBH network took in over 620,000 tonnes. This surpassed the previous record set on 2 December 2022, where we received 603,000 tonnes in a day. Daily site receival records were broken at eight CBH sites - Gairdner, Nyabing, Mt Madden, Perenjori, Merredin, York, Wickepin and Corrigin. This is a huge amount of grain, which would fill the equivalent of 320 Olympic size swimming pools. Alternatively, if you were to line enough trucks up end to end to hold this amount of grain, it would take 12,400 50-tonne trucks and stretch for 450km – the distance from Perth to Albany! During harvest it is critical to safely and efficiently receive grain and enable growers to get back in to the paddock, and its great to see our infrastructure performing well. A huge congratulations to growers, contractors and CBH employees at sites across the state on reaching this new record. Video courtesy of Jessica Rintoul and Bart Trevenen.
