The Captain’s Bar at Cairns Airport has received a fresh look for the latest National Basketball League season! The Cairns Taipans basketball team are some of the most exciting homegrown heroes to come out of Far North Queensland, and there’s more than a few of their fans on the Cater Care Retail team. Coupled with the fact that Cairns Airport sponsors the team, it made perfect sense to transform the Captain’s Bar into the perfect hangout spot for the Taipans’ Orange Army. Fans who’ve stopped by can now catch the games on one of the bar’s several big screens, all while enjoying a cold drink served by their fellow supporters before heading to their flights. We can’t wait to see what the airport community – and any rival fans – think of the new touches. The gather by Cater Care team is making the most of the last few days of our Christmas Pride campaign! WIth the end-of-year shutdown for our partners' schools and boarding halls in South Australia right around the corner, Operations Manager Richard Gibson knew that something would have to be done about our leftover produce. Letting it go to waste when so many are going hungry simply wasn’t an option; instead, Richard seized the initiative and pulled together his site’s remaining goods to personally deliver them to the nearest Foodbank Australia donation point. The donation from Richard’s team will help make a real difference for struggling families, but it won’t be enough to stop hunger in its tracks. Our teams across the country are working hard to support Foodbank Australia as part of our Christmas Pride campaign, and the gather by Cater Care team in South Australia have just wrapped up an impressive food drive! Chef Mark Sullivan and his team had our commitment to cracking down on hunger in mind when preparing for their site’s end-of-year shutdown. Rather than let their site’s leftover produce go to waste, they pooled the remaining goods and hand-delivered them to the local Foodbank branch. The donation came to approximately $250 worth of food, and we hope that this donation and the wider Christmas Pride campaign can help make a real difference for families going hungry. We’re deeply proud of their initiative, but hunger is too big a problem for any one team to tackle. Each year, the Sunshine Coast Airport team recognises members of the airport community who have gone above and beyond to contribute to the airport’s success through their Service Excellence Awards. Florencia Tettamanzi, one of our Outlet Managers, was recognised for delivering exceptional sales performance at the Swell Cafe and the airport’s Boost Juice outlet. Josephine Stanbury, a Food & Beverage Attendant, received an award for the outstanding customer service she provides to guests at Timber and Tide Coffee Co.
