This week Canterbury has been transformed with the installation of our Christmas decorations! There are loads of new decorations never seen before including two 3.6m giant nutcrackers welcoming patrons through the front entrance, a new Gingerbread Man and Snowman at the car park entrance, floor-sized LED baubles and lots more. It’s worth a visit to Canterbury if you’ve never been before - Christmas is our favourite time of the year and we love going all out to bring the season to life!🎄🎄 Thank you to the magical helpers from Daily Press Group and The Christmas Tree Company for the festive installation #christmasatcanterbury

This week was a proud week for participants in Participate Australia 'Cooking Club' program who showed off their culinary skills at their Graduation Dinner in Terrace room, with their families getting to enjoy food that they've learned to cook these past 6 weeks ❤️❤️ Big CONGRATULATIONS to the students - you were all fabulous!🏆😍 Special mention to Stephanie Azar and her team of Chefs for being passionate supporters of this program - volunteering their time and chef skills to teach this wonderful program. 👨🍳👩🍳 Cooking with Confidence: A cooking club program for all abilities 🔪 Canterbury League Club’s basement prep kitchen has recently been ablaze with eager students from Participate Australia learning fundamental cooking skills from former chef, Canterbury Food & Beverage General Manager, Stephanie Azar. In this six-week program, participants get to learn cooking skills from volunteer Canterbury chefs in a professional production kitchen. Some of the menu items that they have made from scratch include cheeseburgers, scones, spring rolls, Thai beef salad, and sticky mango rice. “The cooking program aims to teach participants with intellectual disabilities essential cooking skills that promote independence in everyday life, focusing on transferable skills that they can use daily,” said Stephanie. #CanterburyCares #community #clubgrants #yourlocalclub

💗🍦 Breast cancer fundraiser a SWEET SUCCESS! Thank you for the fantastic response from Members and staff during Canterbury’s Pink Week (14-20 Oct) – we collectively raised $1984.75 for research into early detection and preventative treatment of breast cancer for National Breast Cancer Foundation! The Club pledged a $1 for every pink dessert or pink cake sold at Bakehouse Café or The Bistro Café and hungry patrons rose to the challenge – all for a fantastic cause – with 1,340 cakes over the course of the week. Further donations were collected from donation boxes from Canterbury venues, including The Lakemba Club and Moxon Sports Club, as well as staff fundraising activities. “We would like to thank our members and staff that got involved in this special cause by purchasing a tasty pink dessert, wearing a touch of pink during the week, or donating a gold coin – every little bit counts!” said Greg Pickering, Canterbury League Club CEO.
