About us

BlockTexx is a clean technology company that recovers polyester and cellulose from textiles and clothing. BlockTexx owns proprietary technology that separates polyester and cotton materials such as clothes, sheets and towels of any colour or condition back into their high value raw materials of PET and Cellulose for reuse as new products for all industries. The recovered PET is polymerised to create virgin-quality rPET plastic pellets - PolyTexx® - suitable for use in injection moulding, packaging, building products and textiles. The recovered cellulose is processed to create Microcrystalline cellulose - CellTexx® - for use in many industries such as agricultural, building and manufacturing. BlockTexx is leading a global movement toward a circular economy for our customers and production partners, by developing planet focussed solutions that divert textile waste from landfill and into sustainable products.

We recently came together to celebrate our incredible team across Australia and Asia at our inaugural team awards, The Truey's! With over 1,000 nominations, narrowing it down to just 16 winners was no easy task. Each nomination, submitted by teammates, highlighted amazing stories that showcased how special our team is and how they show up every day for our customers and each other. The awards presented to our Truey winners were equally meaningful. Crafted from recycled toys by our wonderful partners at BlockTexx, they represent our commitment to making a positive impact on our team, our planet, our customers, and the communities we serve. We're so proud of our team! Congratulations to all the nominees and winners! #Sustainability #Awards #Recognition

ELK is proud to announce a groundbreaking Australian-first partnership with BlockTexx® to responsibly treat ELK’s end-of-life garments and convert them into products for the manufacturing and agricultural sectors. We are the first Australian fashion brand to collaborate with BlockTexx® for pre-loved clothing and this partnership focuses on garments that cannot be reused through our (RE)NEW program. Once garments are handed over to BlockTexx®, they are processed through one of BlockTexx®’s social impact partners, which involves removing non-recyclable components like buttons and zips.  BlockTexx® then processes the garments by shredding the fabric and converting it into two industry-ready products: 1.                 Polytexx® – Recycled-PET pellets used in textile production, injection moulding, and the construction industry for products such as polyester textiles and new plastic goods. 2.                 CellTexx® – A microcrystalline cellulose product used in agricultural applications to promote soil stability and land regeneration. BlockTexx® is a leader in textile recycling, introducing innovative solutions that divert textile waste from landfill into sustainable products. Traditional textile recycling processes often handle only "mono-fibres," meaning fabrics that are 100% of a single material, such as polyester or cotton. However, BlockTexx® has developed technology that extracts valuable resources from blended fabrics, significantly expanding the potential for recycling end-of-life garments in the fashion industry, where blends are common. With almost 300 pre-loved ELK garments already sent to BlockTexx®‘s facility, this partnership sets a new standard for #circulareconomy initiatives in Australia.

🌿 Give a Sheet for the Planet®, Record-Breaking National Recycling Week! 🌿 To celebrate #NationalRecyclingWeek, BlockTexx® teamed up with Noosa Council, Sunshine Coast Council, and City of Newcastle, Australia Council to hold three Give a Sheet® for the Planet events in their communities.    More than 900 cars and Utes loaded up with end-of-life sheets, towels, and pillowcases flowed through the drop-off points across the three sites. By the end of the day, records were broken, with more than 11,000kg of end-of-life household linen donated. That’s the equivalent of 72,000 pillowcases diverted from local landfill or export.    A big shout out to the councils who mobilised their ratepayers and businesses to tackle the problem of textiles going to local landfills.     BlockTexx® estimates that the National Recycling Week events offset approximately 330,000 kg of CO2, which is the equivalent of taking 71 cars off the road per year.    If you would like to get involved and host a Give a Sheet® for the Planet event in 2025, We would love to hear from you, join in at https://lnkd.in/g3fFYf24    #SustainableFashion #CircularEconomy #TextileRecycling #ResourceRecovery #GreenTextiles #RecycledMaterials #TextileWaste   #RecyclingIndustry #WasteManagement

  • Another industry leading initiative between ELK and BlockTexx with the support of Australian Fashion Council (AFC).    Solving the textile waste crisis won't be solved with more reports, but simply fashion brands and technology partners rolling up our respective sleeves and getting on with it.

ELK has teamed up with BlockTexx® in an Australian-first partnership to responsibly recycle  end-of-life garments and convert them into products for the textile, manufacturing and  agricultural sectors. This partnership focuses on ELK's preloved, end-of-life garments that cannot be reused through  the brand's (RE)NEW program. Once garments have been collected, they enter BlockTexx®  ecosystem where they are sorted, decommissioned, shredded, and recycled using BlockTexx ®  S.O.F.T.™ (Separation of Fibre Technology) process. The process separates the textiles back  into their individual raw materials. The recovered resources can then be reused back into many  industries. “ELK are a leader in circular economy principles within the Australian fashion industry. Their  (RE)NEW take-back program exemplifies their commitment to creating a circular economy by  providing end-of-life solutions for their products, thereby reducing textile waste.” Tonia Bastyan,  BlockTexx Design & Marketing manager. Marnie Goding, Co-Founder and Brand Director at ELK, states, “Partnerships with industry  leaders like BlockTexx® are crucial for driving meaningful action in responsible fashion and  circularity.
