I have a story to tell. I became my own customer. A couple nights back I was too lazy to get out of bed, i was scrolling uber eats unable to decide, that’s when I opened Bean to just see if it works or not. I generated recipes, it gave me some really good recommendations which tempted me to get out of bed and go to my kitchen. I did not end up cooking from those recommendations but got the motivation to not order in and make something. This is what we were trying to solve and it happened. We’ve reached this far based on user feedback. With this new update in Bean, we have new functionalies like a personal butler chat, instant recipe recommendations from an image, filters for dietary restrictions, shopping lists and much more. Update your app from the app store and if you haven’t downloaded it, download it now. If you are an android user, text me to get an invite. #software #cookwithbean #tech #startup #entrepreneur #studentlife

Ever since I moved to Canada, attending Collision Conf has been a goal. In 2023, I couldn’t afford the passes or the flight to Toronto, and in 2024, even with a developer pass, I had to make a call. I chose to work on Bean and explore opportunities in Australia during that time. Now, I’m excited to share that Bean has been accepted into Web Summit Vancouver's ALPHA startup program! We'll be showcasing it to thousands of attendees in 2025. Even though I couldn’t attend Collision for the past two years, this year, I’m getting to experience it by presenting Bean. This is a huge step forward for us and further validates our mission of making Bean the simplest, most accessible household cooking solution out there. Can't wait to see what's next! Ready for Vancouver, Pankrit? #cookwithbean #startup #websummit #showcase #entrepreneurship #tech #ai #network

Bean is getting showcased at the Innovation Week organised by ShiftKey Labs and Dal Innovates at Dalhousie Faculty of Computer Science. But to be honest, last week was brutal. The latest feedback made us realize just how far behind we were with our recipe recommendations. There’s a lot to fix, and we’re not wasting any time. This week, we’re diving back into Bean’s AI, working hard to fix the recommendation model. It’s been a grind, but we’re on it. That being said, we’re finally ready to test Bean on Android!! We've been focused on iOS testing, but now the Android version is good to go. We’ll be selecting 20 Android users next week for testing. We want real, honest feedback so we can fix Bean early on and make it even better. We Handed Our App to Strangers. Here's What We Learned (And Almost Didn't)" This week, we put Bean in the hands of real users for the first time at UNSW. Talk about nerve-wracking! 😅 But here's the kicker - we almost didn't make it. Just before the event, our app started crashing due to server issues. While I was on the ground at UNSW Founders showcasing Bean, Vansh was up at 3 AM in Canada, frantically keeping our servers alive. It was a true global effort! Despite the challenges, here's what happened: UI Revelation: Watching users navigate our app was eye-opening. Some features we thought were intuitive... weren't. But that's exactly why we test! Feature Wishlist: Users surprised us with requests for features we hadn't even considered. These insights are gold for our development roadmap. The Big One: Reliability is key. Users made it clear - an app that works flawlessly is non-negotiable. (Lesson learned: never push buggy code right before a major event!) But the most exciting part? Seeing faces light up when they realised how Bean could simplify their daily meal planning. That's what keeps us going. One tester, Kanishk Aggarwal, a busy student, said: "I can see how this could really help with my meal planning!" Check out the images to see our current home screen and our testers in action! What's next? We're diving deep into the feedback from our alpha testers. Their insights will be crucial as we refine and improve Bean. Curious about what we're building? Want to be part of the next testing round? Join our waitlist (link in comments) and help us revolutionise meal planning. What's your biggest pain point when it comes to planning meals? Drop a comment below - your insight could shape our next feature! 👇 #startup #usertesting #mealplanning #entreprenuership #cookwithbean #unsw

We hit a major roadblock right before our big testing event at UNSW Founders – our app kept crashing due to a server problem. Continuous iterations in a startup sure do lead to its own set of challenges! While the team in Australia was actively engaged in public testing at UNSW, showing Bean to new users and demoing the app, we couldn’t afford to miss this crucial opportunity. Pankrit was on the front lines, and there I was, just landed in Canada, up at 3 am, glued to error logs, restarting the server each time it failed. Instead of re-deploying on AWS, I served it directly on my computer – risky but incredibly thrilling! This battle, with half the team in person and the other half providing remote support, made the testing a resounding success. Amazingly, the app held up throughout the entire testing phase and only crashed right after it finished. Watching people use it live made us feel our hard work was not for nothing. This unforgettable experience reinforced a vital lesson: never push buggy code right before a major event. #entrepreneurship #startup #cookwithbean #tech #unsw #software #app
