Our thoughts are with all who were impacted by this week's devastating earthquake in Vanuatu, where ANZ has a deep history dating back to 1971. While we are grateful no one in our team was hurt, we are thinking of those who have lost loved ones or who have been injured. With the effects of this likely to be felt for some time, we want to reassure our customers we are here to help and there is a range of financial relief options available to them. To help those in the broader community, we are putting in place a range of relief options and waivers on a number of fees. ANZ will also put in place support payments for our staff. Today, ANZ Group Chairman Paul O'Sullivan addressed shareholders at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Melbourne, thanking them as well as our customers, our people and our partners for their contribution and support through 2024. At the meeting he also took the opportunity to reflect on CEO Shayne Elliott’s nine years leading ANZ ahead of his departure in July 2025. “Shayne has served with distinction. He will be remembered as a CEO that set ANZ on the path to long-term, sustained success,” he said. See our AGM full coverage on ANZ bluenotes here: https://lnkd.in/gzx6gkEH

This year, Andy Kei started as a fresh-faced graduate with us, diving into the corporate world head-first. Recently, he had the pleasure of discussing his experience with Elisa Clements, our Group Executive, Talent & Culture, on a ANZ bluenotes podcast. Listen to it here: https://lnkd.in/gP7hZim7 "Being part of Gen Z means I grew up with social media, brainrot from being chronically online, and instant access to information. As a result, I prefer using emojis and messaging on Teams at work, while many other colleagues prefer in-person meetings and phone calls." "We all do things differently, but there’s value in diversity even if people’s approaches don’t make sense to you right away."

What brings you the most joy in your role? For ANZ Cyber Security expert Alice McCracken, it's the rapidly evolving security landscape which keeps her constantly learning. Her advice for any #cybersecurity professional is to keep on challenging the status quo. “We're seeing such a diversity of threats, and the only way we can counter that is a diversity of experience and thinking." Alice recently had a chat with our CEO Shayne Elliott about her career at ANZ. To watch Alice's full interview with Shayne, visit: https://lnkd.in/gfyT2M4F

Today ANZ has announced that Nuno Matos will become CEO on 3 July 2025, succeeding Shayne Elliott, who will retire from ANZ, after 9 years in the role. Mr Matos brings more than 30 years’ experience across retail, commercial and wholesale banking. Most recently, he was CEO of Wealth and Personal Banking at HSBC where he was responsible for 87,000 employees serving almost 40 million customers across 35 markets. After joining HSBC from Santander in 2015, Mr Matos held senior roles including CEO of HSBC Bank plc and HSBC Europe, where he oversaw the transformation of its European business. He had previously also served as CEO Mexico, one of HSBC’s largest markets, and Regional Head of Retail Banking in Latin America. Commenting on Shayne Elliott’s contribution, ANZ Group Chairman, Paul O’Sullivan said: “Shayne Elliott led the critical transformation that will be the cornerstone of ANZ’s long term success. Under Shayne’s leadership, ANZ now has one of the world’s leading institutional businesses, a new retail bank platform built on industry-leading technology and a culture focussed on helping customers and communities thrive.” Commenting on Nuno’s appointment, Paul O’Sullivan said: “We are very pleased an international banker of Nuno’s calibre and extensive experience will be joining ANZ as our new Chief Executive. He’s led several bank business, risk and technology transformations, which will be a significant benefit as we prepare to scale the migration of customers, including those from Suncorp Bank, across to ANZ Plus.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gv2Ch3a9
