As an essential service provider, we recognise gender-based violence can occur anywhere. Yesterday evening, we joined members of the Champions of Change Coalition to mark the end of UN Women’s 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence with our teams gathering at our orange-lit cooling towers at our Loy Yang and Bayswater Power Stations. Because women deserve to be Safe Everywhere Always. We don’t tolerate gender-based violence in any form at AGL. Read more → https://lnkd.in/gzfwqD9X #SafeEverywhereAlways #16Days

At AGL, we recognise the important role we play in respecting and upholding human rights. This includes a commitment to working towards the eradication of modern slavery. Our AGL Customer Council has released a third open letter urging policymakers, the energy sector and market bodies to work together to ensure people, equity and fairness are at the heart of the energy transition. Some of the recommendations made this year include developing a plan to standardise assistance available to customers, fast-tracking the deployment of new tools and technologies like smart meters, and providing businesses with guaranteed businesses supports over the long-term as well as better government communication and support. Our Customer Council has run consecutively for 25 years and has released three open letters, with each providing immediate actions to ensure no customer is left behind in the energy transition and affordability for energy consumers remains a key priority. Thank you to our Council members for your insights and support: Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) COTA Queensland ,Business NSW, Ethnic Communities' Council of NSW. It was incredible to welcome thousands of visitors to our booth at this year’s Sydney International EV Autoshow. As part of the exhibition, our EV and electrification experts shared our unique insights into the electrification of transport. Highlights included: Jeremy Brook, AGL Head of Home Transition, emphasising the importance of empowering customers to transition to all-electric homes. Mabelle Reyes, AGL Head of E-Mobility, showcasing how we’re driving EV adoption through innovative private and public charging infrastructure. Amelia P., AGL Product Owner EV Charging, joining a panel for a deep dive into EV charging and battery technology. Natasha Menon, AGL Fleet Strategy Manager, contributing to an all-women panel discussing how women are shaping the design, development, and marketing of EVs to drive greater uptake. It was inspiring to see the enthusiasm, energy and keen interest of the attendees as they learned more about electrifying the way they live, move and work. #ElectricVehicles #Electrification #JoinTheChange

NSW Government has announced that we’ve received planning approval for a grid-scale battery at Tomago in NSW. Our General Manager of Power Development and Energy Hubs, Travis Hughes, said this exciting announcement marks another important step in the development process of the battery. “We welcome planning approval from the NSW Minister for Planning for AGL’s Tomago battery. The 500 MW 4-hour grid-scale battery has the potential to provide additional firming capacity for AGL’s NSW customers. It will also contribute towards AGL’s ambition to add 12 GW of renewables and firming to our portfolio by 2035. Planning approval is an important milestone as we progress our development plans ahead of a final investment decision in 2025.” Read more → https://lnkd.in/gDGVV9Av #EnergyTransition #GridScaleBattery

We’re supporting The Salvation Army Australia’s Light the Way campaign, helping those doing it tough this festive season. This is our third year supporting the Salvo’s as they aim to brighten the lives of disadvantage families. Our $100,000 donation will go towards providing gift cards to the local Bayswater and Loy Yang communities and contribute to paying household bills for families who seek Salvos services.
This Christmas, we are honoured to partner once again with AGL and Alinta Energy for the Light the Way initiative, uniting Australia’s leading energy companies to bring hope, warmth, and support to families and individuals facing hardship. Together, we’re shining a light on those who need it most. With your support, we can provide food, shelter, and safety to those in need - and most importantly, offer the hope of a new beginning 🎁 Last Christmas, The Salvation Army was able to provide food parcels and meals to more than 14,500 Australians. Together, we can continue this vital work and make a meaningful difference for those struggling this festive season. A heartfelt thank you to our energy partners for helping us spread hope and brighten the lives of so many this Christmas ❤️ Learn more and donate online: https://bit.ly/48TQB5h #LightTheWay #Salvos #Community #TheSalvationArmy #ChristmasAppeal #AGL #AlintaEnergy
