Based in the historic Liberties area of Dublin city centre, The Digital Hub is an enterprise cluster for growing technology companies. Forty-nine established businesses operate in The Digital Hub. Together these businesses employ over 500 people. The Digital Hub is the largest cluster of digital media, technology and internet businesses in Ireland, providing a space for indigenous enterprises such as Akara Robotics, Bizimply, Good Travel Software, Kavaleer, Neuromod and patientMpower to scale and grow. Major global companies like Lonely Planet are also based in The Digital Hub, along with industry organisations like the Dublin International Film Festival and PhotoIreland. Since the project’s inception, over 400 companies have progressed through the enterprise cluster at The Digital Hub, generating thousands of skilled jobs. 🚀 Smart D8: A Year of Impact & Innovation! 2️⃣ 0️⃣ 2️⃣ 4️⃣ has been a transformative year for Smart D8: 🎯 We selected, funded, and supported five pilot projects tackling key challenges, including: reducing waiting lists for children’s speech and language therapy; digitizing hospital administration to address inefficiencies; introducing a digital care pathway for population health; developing a dashboard for disability services in Dublin 8; and raising dementia awareness and promoting prevention activities. 🌈 We partnered with local organisations and the Smart D8 Tutors & Facilitators Panel to deliver health and wellbeing initiatives to over 1,000 residents, workers, and students in Dublin 8. 🎥 Now, we’re thrilled to share testimonials from the Smart D8 Panel about their journey with us. Congratulations to Teen-Turn who had four winners from their Project Squad programme at SciFest CLG last weekend. The contestants benefitted from our very own Designer-in-Residence, Dr. Glenn Curtin expertise as a judge and awarded two junior prize category projects, Robotics Kits attributed to The Digital Hub's ongoing support of Teen-Turn's work. Two of the Best Journey prize winners were girls who completed their projects at the Friday sessions in The Digital Hub. The Liber8 Music Project in collaboration with BIMM Institute Dublin culminated with a graduation performance that took place on Friday, 13th December in BIMM Music Institute on Francis Street. The students demonstrated the skills they had learned over the 8-week course by playing songs by Fleetwood Mac, Radiohead and more for their family and friends. The programme included 27 students from 7 participating schools in Dublin 8 and the surrounding areas. Over 90 R&D Projects completed by girls from 8 counties and 20 secondary schools were on display at IBM Ireland Saturday December 14 to showcase our Project Squad activities in the form of a SciFest. Projects included medtech devices, mobile apps using machine learning, and extensive social science research into peer behaviours, facilitated by volunteers from CWIT and judged by a panel of industry leaders. Thank you to all involved for making it happen!
