Respond’s Brain Health Village in Rathcoran organised a Christmas party for the community to get together and celebrate the festive season. Children did arts and crafts and met Santa while the adults got to chat over some nice food and make festive wreaths. The Brain Health Village project, spearheaded by Respond in collaboration with the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) Trinity College Dublin, represents a pioneering effort to integrate brain health principles into housing design and community development.

Throwback Thursday! As we approach year end, we look back on some of the amazing partnerships and projects delivered due to the generous support of our many partners. We were delighted to have made arrangements for dozens of children, supported by Respond Services, to attend private clinical assessments. This project, supported by the RTÉ Toy Show Appeal and Community Foundation Ireland, resulted in these children coming off public waiting lists and getting the much needed assessments and diagnosis they and their families need to allow them seek out the necessary supports they so badly need.
🗣️ “Having the assessment, people are listening more to us and especially here [in Respond Early Learning], the girls are great, everyone knows her and her own ways and how to deal with her now. So it’s brilliant," said Christina Coffey. 🧸 Respond was awarded €70,000 grant funding from RTE Toy Show Appeal, through our ongoing partnership with Community Foundation Ireland. 🏠 This funding allowed us to provide access to private clinical assessments and support for children from low-income families where a child has a disability and they are on the waiting list for a public assessment. 🧑🧑🧒 Early assessment and intervention can make a significant difference to the lives of children and their families. 📖 Read more about our ongoing partnership with Community Foundation Ireland in our 2023 Annual Report here: https://lnkd.in/esy3uNgr 🔊 Hear Christina’s experience of accessing the funding through Respond.

Respond’s Family Homeless services in Dublin got together to celebrate the festive season. Santa arrived on a sleigh and the children got to decorate ginger bread men, make Christmas decorations, sip hot chocolate and visit Santa’s Grotto. We’re especially grateful for the incredible support of our external partners who make events like this possible. Their generosity helps us create special memories for families in our homeless services. Special thanks to Fingal County Council and Dublin City Council – Artane / Whitehall LEA for their support and making this event extra magical for the children staying in Respond’s Family Homeless Hubs this Christmas.

👮♀️ Community Gardaí joined Respond’s Family Support and Housing team, in our new estate in Waterford, to teach children and tenants about Road Safety. 🚗 Children living in the estate received hi vis vests and learnt about road safety, while tenants were able to meet their local Community Gardaí. This was an exciting opportunity for all involved to chat and learn more about this topic. A special thank you to the Gardaí for calling out! #RoadSafety #Community
