Scotland is making waves in sustainable building! The Scottish Government’s Energy Standards Review – Scottish Passivhaus Equivalent Working Group Consensus Report is here, and it’s a bold move towards higher-performing, energy-efficient buildings. Key takeaways: - Clear Implementation Path: A phased roadmap with industry training to ensure a smooth transition. - Flexible Modelling Tools: While a bespoke Scottish tool is being developed, the PHPP (Passivhaus Planning Package) will also be accepted as an alternative for modelling and compliance. This is fantastic news for those already working with Passive House standards. - Energy Use Intensity (EUI): A key metric in regulations, ensuring both regulated and unregulated energy use is accounted for. - Absolute Energy Targets: Clear benchmarks for non-domestic buildings, with flexible routes for domestic projects. - Quality Assurance Focus: Enhanced checks to ensure real-world performance matches design intent, reducing the performance gap. Looking ahead, the report highlights the importance of addressing embodied carbon and embracing Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) to meet these ambitious targets effectively. This forward-thinking approach is a brilliant example of leadership in the built environment. At MosArt, we’re excited to see the PHPP recognised, as it continues to set the gold standard for energy modelling worldwide. Scotland’s shift reflects the growing momentum behind high-performance building standards that deliver comfort, efficiency, and futureproof living. How do you think this will influence the wider adoption of rigorous energy standards across the UK and Ireland? We'd love to hear your thoughts! https://lnkd.in/ey4AT88J #SustainableBuilding #PassiveHouse #PHPP #EnergyEfficiency #BuildingStandards #NetZero #ModernConstruction #QualityAssurance #EmbodiedCarbon #MosArt #ScotlandSustainability
