Gas Networks Ireland and the Lidon Group are making a significant contribution to reducing emissions from the commercial transport industry with the launch of Ireland’s newest bioCNG station at Junction 14 Mayfield. Our colleague Fran McFadden and the Minister of State at the Department of Transport, James Lawless TD, explain how renewable bioCNG and the new station will transform one of Ireland’s busiest transport corridors into a more sustainable route for heavy goods vehicles with locally produced biomethane. Heavy commercial transport is one of the most difficult sectors to decarbonise, but bioCNG can provide commercial fleet operators and their customers with an ideal solution to transition from diesel and decarbonise their businesses. On last Saturday, 5 October we were humbled and honoured to participate in Zambrero Ireland's mission to help end world hunger through its Plate4plate initiative.  Big thanks to our team members (some brought their families!) who turned out to help pack up 120,000 meals at St. Mary’s College in Rathmines, Dublin. As with all things Zambrero it was a supremely well organised event, very social and lots of fun. Junction 14 Mayfield proudly advises the addition of BioCNG from Kildare-based GreenGen as a sustainable fuel offer at our M7 Motorway services facility. Thanks to Gas Networks Ireland for their support for the initiative and to BWG Foods UC (Ireland's largest fleet of CNG fuelled vehicles). Junction 14 Mayfield is the only filling station supplying Irish-made zero-emissions bioCNG, derived at the nearby Green Generation anaerobic digestion facility from Irish food and farm waste.
