  • EirGrid has recently completed uprate works on the Maynooth to Woodland 220kV line, ensuring a continued secure energy supply for the greater Dublin area ⚡ This work was necessary to facilitate essential maintenance of the 400kV and 220 kV network, to meet growing demand and support sustained economic development in the region 🏡 🔌 The delivery of this project comes despite several challenges along the way, such as managing grid capacity, as the works required onerous double 220kV circuit outages for extended periods. Thanks to strong collaboration with stakeholders, including ESB Networks and Engineering and Major Projects, these difficulties were overcome to successfully deliver this essential project. ℹ️ Learn more about EirGrid’s work to ensure a secure energy future here: eirgrid.ie #Energisations #ElectricityGrid #ElectricitySupply

EirGrid has recently completed works to uprate the Binbane to Cathleen Falls 110kV circuit in County Donegal ⚡ This circuit has been identified as an Associated Transmission Reinforcement for electricity generation in the North-West. Adding the capacity of 64.4MW to the grid in the region, this project will contribute to securing a continued reliable energy supply for local communities 🏘️🔌 Thanks to the close collaboration with ESB Networks and all our stakeholders, it has enabled this project to be taken from the planning application stage to energisation in just 24 months 🙌 ℹ️ Learn more about EirGrid’s work to ensure a secure energy future, see: eirgrid.ie #Energisations #ElectricityGrid #ElectricitySupply

  • 📢 We're proud to share that the next phase of works critical to the progress of the Celtic Interconnector project has commenced at Claycastle Beach, Youghal ⚡ 🌊 The works began with the establishment of a work site in a section of the beach’s car park. This will be followed by the installation of a cofferdam for laying the ducts required for the passage of the cables to and from the marine route to France. During the works, access to the beach, boardwalk and car park will be maintained at all times, with occasional pedestrian walkway diversions. There will be a temporary reduction of 70 car parking spaces during the works and some disabled parking bays will be relocated. Once the work site has been established, the next phase of works will be the building of a cofferdam on a section of the beach leading from the car park to the water. This cofferdam is an open-ended enclosure, where construction works will take place when the tide is out. This work is in preparation for the installation of ducting in the cofferdam in 2025. Once all works are complete, the beach will be restored to its original condition. ℹ️ For more information, see: https://bit.ly/4ioyCbk #CelticInterconnector #CEFEnergy #Progress
