As part of the DigiStent project, Pamela Byrne, Jeffwin George and David Cullen took part in a live vascular surgery viewing performed by leading vascular surgeon Prof. Muhammad Tubassam last week in University Hospital Galway. Our team, alongside project partners from University of Galway, witnessed the implantation of an Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR) stent with associated patient complications, and consulted Prof. Muhammed Tubassam at each stage of the surgery. #DigiStent aims to develop the world’s first wireless digital stent platform, to monitor structural and functional properties of endovascular abdominal aortic repair. This initiative will bring about systematic change in the healthcare industry, improving patient well-being, reducing the AAA mortality rate and inspiring next-generation smart healthcare devices. This experience provided the team with invaluable insights and a deeper understanding of the procedure, which will significantly benefit the DigiStent project. 💡Many thanks to Prof. Muhammed Tubassam, Dr. Adnan Elahi, Tejaswini Manavi and the staff at UHG for this invaluable experience. #aerospace #renewableenergy #space #manufacturing #hiring #innovation #engineering #research #development #medtech

🍃🌍 Conor Kelly and Mohamad Alsaadi, PhD, Assist. Prof. had the pleasure of attending the MAREWIND final event last week, hosted by ACCIONA Construction in collaboration with the #MAREWIND partners. The hybrid event provided valuable insights into 'Sustainability and Durability Challenges in Offshore Infrastructures' and was a great opportunity to connect with industry experts.
