Sustainability in Real Estate: Key Insights from Industry Leaders Yesterday, we gained incredible insights from the keynotes at LuxPropTech Afterwork: 🔹 Mikkel Schlesinger (CEBRA) addressed the urgent climate and biodiversity crises through a "reduction roadmap" for carbon neutrality and ecosystem regeneration in the building industry. 🔹 Sabrina Dedeurwaerder (Earth Plus) introduced circular and holistic solutions for soil and CO2 cleanup by using industrial hemp for bioremediation and production of bio-based construction materials to transform construction from a polluter to a carbon sink and restore land. 🔹 Yves Biwer (AGORA Luxembourg) shared about developing sustainable urban districts on former brownfields by prioritizing green areas, integrating existing structures, promoting car-free neighborhoods, and focusing on efficient water and energy management, all while engaging citizens in the planning process. 🔹 Jean-Michel Verhulst (Trigrr) promoted a holistic approach to building management with a "building operating system" that unifies building technologies and delivers value to all stakeholders–asset managers, tenants, and facility managers–by orchestrating existing systems. 🔹 Rüdiger Hornung FRICS (Wüest Partner) convinced investors of the financial value of sustainability in real estate by using data-driven valuation methods to calculate the impact of sustainability measures on property value, advocating for a holistic integration of sustainability into every aspect of building design and operation.
