L'écart de pension entre les hommes et les femmes, le «gender pension gap», est un phénomène particulièrement important au #Luxembourg. En comparaison européenne, le Luxembourg est le pays avec la plus grande inégalité en cette matière après la Malte et les Pays-Bas. Les femmes perçoivent des pensions en moyenne 36% inférieures à celles des hommes. À 42%, cet écart est encore plus marqué pour les bénéficiaires d'une pension ayant travaillé exclusivement au Luxembourg.

The gender health gap is real. Some examples... 🔴 Women are 10% less likely than men to have their pain level assessed when they arrive at hospital 🔴 Women are still being underdiagnosed and undertreated for cardiovascular disease (CVD), despite CVD being the leading cause of death in women 🔴 Endometriosis globally affects 10% of women and girls of reproductive age, but in the US, for example, only two out 10 cases are diagnosed, with diagnosis taking more than seven years 🔴 Around three times as many boys are diagnosed with autism as girls, and girls are often diagnosed later than boys, or not diagnosed at all 🔴 Women account for the majority of people (80%) with autoimmune diseases, but it takes an average of five years for them to get a diagnosis “For millennia, medicine has functioned on the assumption that male bodies can represent humanity as a whole. As a result, we have a huge historical data gap when it comes to female bodies. Women are dying, and the medical world is complicit. It needs to wake up." As the 16 Days of activism to end gender based Violence enters its second day, we look at the way we are socialised and the impact this can have. Remember: ‼️Every time we say to a little girl that her male friend hits her because he loves her, we justify violence. ‼️Every time we encourage a boy in love who has been rejected to no give up, to insist, we are telling him that rejection is not an option. ‼️ Every time we say "boys will be boys" we indicate that it is not surprising or unusual when boys behave in improper ways. It is unfair towards boys, as if society doesn't believe they can behave, and it is unfair towards girls, who are told that they have to accept it. ‼️ When we sistematcially compliment girls telling how pretty they are while telling boys how strong they are, we reinforce stereotypes that men need strength and women need to please the eyes of men. It's time to change the narrative. ✔️ Stop stereotyping men’s and women’s roles ✔️ Challenge sexist attitudes ✔️ Let children know that violence towards women is never OK ✔️ Teach kids to establish boundaries ✔️ Teach kids how to recognise aggression and violence ✔️ Teach kids about respect, gender equality and positive attitudes towards girls ✔️ Stop victim blaming ✔️ Be a role model ✔️ Speak up #stopviolenceagainstwomen
