🚀 From Reflection to Action: Accelerating Scope 3 Decarbonization for 2025 At Choice Event #80, we wrapped up the year by diving deep into the wins, challenges, and opportunities for Scope 3 decarbonization. Leading sustainability experts shared key insights on supplier collaboration, innovative solutions, and preparing for CSRD compliance. A huge thank you to our outstanding speakers: Stefan Dierks – Director Sustainability Strategy, Melitta Group Toine Rombouts – Global Lead Strategic Direct Procurement, KWS Sandra Zagarra – Procurement Sustainability Expert, KWS Lara Obst – Co-Founder, ClimateChoice Josepha Niebelschütz – Growth Marketing Lead, ClimateChoice 🔑 Key Highlights from KWS and Melitta Group: 1️⃣ Tackling Data Challenges in Complex Supply Chains At KWS, fragmented supplier data posed a significant challenge. By leveraging tools like the ClimateChoice AI platform, KWS identified high-priority suppliers and pinpointed opportunities to collaborate on impactful changes. For Melitta Group, addressing emissions in their agricultural coffee supply chain required a solid foundation. As Stefan Dierks shared: “We focused on building sector-specific roadmaps to drive progress where it matters most.” 2️⃣ Supplier Collaboration as the Backbone of Decarbonization KWS drove innovation among suppliers by encouraging the adoption of alternative materials and renewable energy sources to lower emissions. This collaborative approach helps suppliers take ownership of sustainability goals. At Melitta Group, a groundbreaking pilot project in Brazil is exploring how regenerative practices can reduce emissions while supporting local ecosystems. As Stefan explained, regeneration benefits both the planet and long-term partnerships with stakeholders. 3️⃣ Aligning Sustainability with CSRD and Financial Metrics KWS is implementing an internal carbon price as a lever to weigh environmental impact alongside financial goals, encouraging teams to prioritize lower-carbon solutions. For Melitta Group, CSRD is viewed as more than compliance. It’s an opportunity to showcase the business case for sustainability and align the entire organization. 🗣️ As Lara Obst, Co-Founder of ClimateChoice, summed it up: “It all starts with us. By upskilling teams and embedding sustainability into everyday decision-making, we can turn targets into action.” 📆 What’s Next? Join Us at #CTS2025! Ready to lead the change in 2025? 😅 "𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐢𝐭, 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠" - that was the slightly ironic answer to the request of a minstrel who wanted to sing for us in the Christmas tent. What he didn't know was that he had stumbled upon the 🎄 Xmas-Lunch for EU Female Founders & VCs in ClimateTech 🤷♂️🎸 And we had a lot to say & an enormous level of conversations happening at the same time! If you had been a fly on the wall, this is what you've heard: ❗ Is the digital PCF coming soon❓ ❗How is Trump influencing the global ClimateTech market❓ ❗How do companies build the business case for climate transparency❓ ❗ What data does procurement need to drive decarbonization in purchasing❓ ❗ .. by the way, how many emissions does a flight to Cape Town require❓ We discussed this & much more hotly 🌏🌡️ Thanks so much to the wonderful Lia Carlucci 🍋 & Lea Scholdan, who once again hand-picked the round of female leaders, and made it such an excellent event! It was a blast, and I'm looking forward to many subsequent conversations and further exchanges Elzan Godlewski Hanna V., have a wonderful festive season everyone 🤩
