Yesterday, I had the fantastic opportunity to speak at the inaugural European Career Accelerator, organized by Optica. My talk, "Identifying Emerging Technology Trends: Innovation and Product Development," was an energizing experience. This event brought together 45 incredible attendees from 22 countries - a diverse and inspiring group of professionals all eager to learn, connect, and grow. During my session, we explored how to recognize key trends, foster innovation, and develop products that truly make a difference. Sharing my insights and hearing the questions from such an engaged audience was a true highlight. I'll leave you with the timeless wisdom of Bruce Lee, which encapsulates the spirit of innovation perfectly: "Absorb what is useful. Discard what is not. Add what is uniquely your own." How to start a career as a project manager in photonics? 🤔   There are different ways for getting started, but one surefire way to kickstart your journey is attending a professional development workshop of Optica!💡   Yesterday I had the pleasure to give a talk about project management at the still on-going Career Accelerator at the INSELHOTEL Potsdam. Sharing experiences from my work at Menlo Systems I sketched the various tasks and responsibilities of this role throughout the life cycle of a project. Further, fundamental tools and techniques – from the stakeholder engagement matrix to S.M.A.R.T. goal setting - were introduced and discussed with the 45 attendees.   It was a great experience to attend the workshop – not only to share my own experience but also to learn from leaders in our field such as Ulrike Fuchs Sven Kiontke Jose Pozo and Håkan Karlsson! Also, great to meet my fellow #OpticaAmbassadors Ana Karen Reyes and Jelena Pesic in Potsdam!   Finally, a big “thumbs up” to Optica for bringing this event to Europe for the first time and to John Taylor, Mitchell Harjo and Mike RICHARDSON and OpTecBB for being fantastic hosts!

Max Born . . . Herzlichen Glückwunsch! heute am 11. Dezember 1882 wurde Max Born geboren. Sein Buch „Principle of Optics“ zusammen mit Emil Wolf ist eines der für mich wichtigen Bücher und ist Grundlage für alle - auch nichtlineare - Optik. Ich kann es meinen Studierenden an der Berliner Hochschule für Technik (BHT) im neuen Studiengang Laser Science and Photonics nur wärmstens ans Herz legen, es hat mich während - der Diplomarbeit an der Freie Universität Berlin und - meiner Promotionsarbeit am 10 Terawatt Laser am MAX BORN INSTITUTE for Nonlinear Optics and Short Pulse Spectroscopy in Adlershof begleitet. Wie auch viele andere bei OpTecBB, dem Laserverbund Berlin-Brandenburg e.V. und in zahlreichen Firmen und Instituten im Bereich der #Laser und der #Quantenoptik, natürlich nicht nur in #Berlin.
