Membranes And Catalysts Beyond Economic and Technological Hurdles The MACBETH consortium provides a breakthrough technology of highly efficient catalytic membrane reactor (CMR) for advanced downstream processing by combining catalytic synthesis with the corresponding separation units in a single reactor. With this disruptive technology a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and an increase in resource and energy efficiency of large volume industrial processes can be achieved. The revolutionary new reactor design will guarantee substantially smaller and safer production plants and thus reduce operational and investment costs.

🎉 A new paper from the MACBETH project!!! ⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️
2025 kicks off with good news! 🚀 "Techno-economic analysis for the design of membrane reactors in a small-scale biogas-to-hydrogen plant" has been published in the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy. DOI: https://lnkd.in/dUptTdEr This study demonstrates that membrane reactor performance can be effectively summarized in generalized performance charts, allowing the characterization of reactors and MR-based systems based solely on membrane area for various conditions (temperatures, pressures, feed composition, catalyst amount, and steam-carbon ratio). Led by Politecnico di Milano and Eindhoven University of Technology, this paper is part of the MACBETH Project.

As the year draws to a close, we want to take a moment to reflect and express our gratitude to everyone who has been part of our journey. 2024 has been a remarkable year for MODELTA BV filled with exciting moments and significant milestones. Here are some of the highlights that made this year so special: • 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: We successfully completed the groundbreaking MACBETH project, the very initiative where MODELTA BV found its beginning. • 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: We are proud to have joined several new projects. This includes the Dutch national MIT R&D subsidy where we will conduct research on carbon membranes, and the MEMODEV project within the INNOMEM Project where we simulated permeation for several membranes received from partners. • 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴: In December, we showcased the progress on the modeling results from the ongoing MEASURED Project at the Aachener Membran Kolloquium - AMK, sparking insightful discussions with leading experts in the field. Additionally, we contributed to advancing and disseminating knowledge on membranes and membrane reactors through presentations at the Winter School on Membrane Reactors, webinars, and a process design course at Eindhoven University of Technology. • 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵: We welcomed two new members to the Modelta team. Welcome Simona Eichkorn, our new business analyst, and welcome Daniel Emmery, our new computational expert. • 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: Our year ended on a high note as our CTO, Michele Ongis, obtained his doctorate degree in December. Congratulations, Michele - an outstanding achievement and a testament to your dedication! 🌟 Celebrating a Remarkable Journey: The MACBETH Project Comes to a Close 🌟 On the 2nd and 3rd of December MODELTA BV participated in the final consortium meeting of the MACBETH project, where partners from all over Europe came together to share and celebrate the achievements within this project. A big thank you to Evonik for hosting this great event in Dortmund! This summed up four transformative years of innovation, collaboration and ambition, working on catalytic membrane reactors for advanced downstream processing. Within the MACBETH project the spin-off idea for Modelta was initially born, with the goal of creating a platform of knowledge on membranes and membrane reactors. Two years down the road Modelta is an established start-up, and we are proud to further extend the know-how developed within MACBETH towards industry. We extend our thanks to our consortium partners, stakeholders and the European Union's Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Program for the invaluable contributions and support on this journey.
