Ob auf einem Braunkohlebagger, in einer Mine oder bei der Metallproduktion, die Anlagen von LSA - Laser Analytical Systems & Automation GmbH analysieren die Materialien laserbasiert direkt vor Ort. Während beispielsweise feuerfeste Steine bisher händisch aufgeschlagen und nach bestem Wissen und Gewissen sortiert werden mussten, setzt LSA auf eine vollautomatische, lasergestützte Materialanalyse in Verbindung mit Sortiervorrichtungen (z. B. Robotern) und der Echtzeit-Übermittlung der Analysenergebnisse (z. B. für die Qualitätskontrolle). Zur Durchführung der Analyse werden verschiedene Sensoren miteinander vernetzt, wie etwa die klassische Laseranalyse in Verbindung mit Hyperspektralkameras und einer 3D-Objekt-Topologieerfassung. Neben Sortieraufgaben in der Materialaufbereitung und dem wertstofflichen Recycling sind die Analysesysteme sehr früh im Produktionsprozess einsetzbar, z. B. bereits bei Explorationsbohrungen am Bohrgerät.  Warum ist LSA in der LASER.region.AACHEN? Ausschlaggebend für LSA waren die lokalen Synergieeffekte sowie die überregionale Strahlkraft. Bereits jetzt bestehen Kooperationen in verschiedenen Projekten. In der zweiten Förderphase möchte sich LSA in Personal- und KI-Projekten aktiv beteiligen. LSA presents a novel, scanning and mobile LIBS system for desktop applications at EMSLIBS 2023 in Porto. In cooperation with international partners, a highly integrated LIBS measurement system has been developed, which will be offered in series production shortly after a testing phase. Last week, LSA - Laser Analytical Systems & Automation GmbH attended the 10th expert conference of Sensor-Based Sorting & Control in Aachen where Markus Dargel presented the ReSoURCE project (Refractory Sorting Using Revolutionizing Classification Equipment). An overview of the current challenges of manual sorting in refractory recycling and an outline of project´s objectives were presented.   The focus of the presentation was what is LSA´s role in contributing to the project by explaining the development of a LIBS unit for the inline characterization of refractory materials together with the fusion of spectrometric information with geometric and hyperspectral data.   It was a great opportunity to present in front of industry experts and the scientific community. Cutting-edge developments and innovative applications in automated separation and sensor-based control along the entire process chain were presented, spanning from mining to processing for primary and secondary raw materials.

Prof. Reinhard Noll, LSA - Laser Analytical Systems & Automation GmbH, is our next #keynote speaker for the Nordic LIBS 2024.
